I'm not OK with mediocrity, but I'm understanding of the player availability issues presented to this team over the last two years, unlike select folks here. I understand that I might be a good golfer but taking a few important clubs out of the bag doesn't come without impact on my ability to get that little ball in the hole. No team in the MAC, none, has the depth to suffer what this team has suffered the last two years and see no negative effects on results. In my opinion, saying that does not constitute an "excuse." It's a fact that we've had to play with a lot less than a full deck the last two years, especially last year.
Of course everything you say is true. No team at the mid-major level can sustain at a high level with the injuries we've had.
To me, the question goes deeper. It's WHY have we been so ravished by injuries?
A) God hates us. Saul Phillips needs to sacrifice a chicken - and avoid all mirrors.
B) There's something medically/athletically wrong with the type of players Saul is recruiting.
C) There's something wrong with our strength, training & conditioning programs.
If you believe it's A) then there's nothing Saul can do and nothing we can do except cross our fingers and hope it gets better.
If you believe it's B) or C) - well then that opens up Saul and his staff to some criticism to fix it and make it better.
