Last week the National Wrestling Coaches Association came out with their All- Academic teams and individuals.
Their methodology is somewhat suspect, given the fact that Kent State came out number 2 in the nation.
What was interesting was the majors of individual wrestlers.
The majors of wrestlers from schools like Harvard,Stanford,Lehigh, etc., were pretty much as you'd expect, Engineering,Economics,Business or similar fields.
Schools like OSU,Iowa and other wrestling havens had somewhat less rigorous majors like Sports and Recreation Management,Sport Industry,Coaching Science,Positive Coaching(MEd),and Athletic Leadership(MA).
Since "titles" can be misleading,I looked up some of the curricula.
Not exactly academically rigorous.
These majors were a bit surprising, given that fact that, unlike football and basketball, there is no pro career after college.
Guess some guys just want make sure they get in their 4 years of wrestling and trying for a National Championship.
