Is TK allowed to do just whatever on the court?

Turnovers in clusters killing us just when we should be putting this away
This is an understatement. If your not going to take open threes in favor of going inside, you can’t throw it away as much as we do. Fortunately it is an area that can be improved with work. Starting to make some threes wouldn’t hurt either. The good news is that our defense and rebounding are holding up.

Cats were up 16 at one point. It's now 4. So. Many. Turnovers.

Before this game TK was SECOND in the country in turnovers. He will probably be first after this.

It's a win but that was an ugly final 10 minutes. There had to be 20+ turnovers. Half of them unforced.

As sad as that was at least we got one key stop when needed. Any confidence that was building after the recent stretch is pretty much gone now though. I know, I know, road win, but Toledo beat these guys by 40

Turnovers, missed layups, missed ft's down the stretch, and we won by a banked in three. Doesn't feel like a win, but goes down in the books as one either way.

Actually it was 19 .. 52 - 33.

Take away Carter's FT's and the rest of the guys were 6 - 16. High school kids shoot it better from the line.

Whereas Kirk has good ppg average his TO's offset much of what he does. Has to learn to play both 'smart' and more under control.

That makes that 3-pointer a carte blanche shot off glass?

OK a win is a win, but my goodness that was a depressing stretch in the second half. My friends who are Dayton alums were telling me how terrible Detroit Mercy was after seeing them in person against the Flyers. They told me that we should have no problems. Well about halfway through the second half all seemed fine, but then it seemed the team was ready to mail in the victory from Detroit. This was more about attitude than talent. If we don't show up at road games against teams like Buffalo, it is going to ugly a lot faster than it did against hapless Detroit Mercy. Let's hope we have seen the last of games like this for a long time.

Our PG with no court vision was slightly better than their PG with no court vision.

We were 291st in the country in turnovers coming into the game, and that likely went up after today. And you are right about so many being unforced. It seems like some of our guards just jump and try to throw blind passes without really knowing where they are going.

Three point % and turnover rate continue to be the two biggest flaws on this team. We need Gollon and Dartis back badly.

Sual's lack of in game adjustments is mind boggling. I cant tell if its stubbornness, arrogance or stupidity. "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results."

What about Ohio's late possession coming out of a time out? TK and Preston playing catch for 20-plus seconds 30 feet from the basket before TK banks in a long 3. Isn't that great coaching?

Detroit has already played 6 games against MAC opponents, so this will be a great gauge for MAC play. They are 2-4.(wins over BG and EMU)(losses to WMU, Akron, Kent, Toledo)
I’ll take the win, but this doesn’t bode well for conference play if this is a good gauge. Thankful he made the game winner, but can’t win consistently in conference play when point guard turns it over between 6-10 times per game.

He is limited. So I'd add "lack of personnel" (without Dartis & Gollon) to your "stubbornness, arrogance or stupidity". Horrible last 10 minutes but until we get at least one of those guys back we will struggle due to lack of depth.

How many YEARS does this excuse qualify?

Maybe, just maybe, it's time to address recruiting (find guys who aren't as prone to injury, and/or recruit MORE talented players so when injuries strike you aren't always playing short-handed) and it's time to address nutrition/conditioning/training (to help keep guys healthy).

Both of those areas fall on the staff. But instead of taking ownership and actively trying to remedy this situation - we get "He's limited by lack of personnel" and "well you can't judge him without his full roster" and "boy he's sure had bad luck with injuries".

Successful people make their own luck.

Didn’t see the game. However not a good stat line when the PG has 8 turns and shoots 50%from the line. How many, if any, charging fouls was he assessed?

Excuses? So losing Campbell didn't impact the overall success of the team? I mean what's 17 ppg? Losing Carter last year also had no impact? Averaged 10 ppg as frosh and plays 3 games last year. Gollon and Dartis no big loss, right?
And you say "recruit MORE talented" guys .. lol. The 4 I mentioned are pretty darn talented and Campbell & Carter did have MAJOR impacts on how the seasons played out. 7-3 at this stage with Dartis & Gollon out is decent. And blame Saul if you wish but we still went 20-11 the year Campbell went down.

Exactly on point. And as I stated TK was 2md in total turnovers coming into the game. He is probably 1st now.

Block, BVP and an occasional Carter shot are only deep threats right now. It was nice to see Murrell finally hit one and he played well, but once again the coaches decide to not even play him in the 2nd half? I dont get that. He was one of the only guys finding open spots in the zone.

Had a conversation with a former Saul player at NDSU this summer that opened my eyes a lot. Apparently this was a theme there as well.
