Sucks to have the Bobcats in my back yard for football and basketball but walk away 0-2.

I am sure I have lost it but I see a glimmer of hope in this team. IF Dartis and Gollon make it back, I'm not scared of the MAC.

No offense to Gollen but his return alone will not put us in MAC contention. Both Gollon and Dartis is a different story. It will take both 3-5 games to get their legs and game back so I don't have high expectations for immediate impact.

X board is saying that three of their rotation guys, including two starters, are battling illness. They could be down to a 8 or 7 rotation.
I've heard that kinda stuff before.
You mean like on this board?

I know people on this board like to complain about our lack of recruiting good players, but this staff does do a great job at recruiting versatile guys. Most of the guys on the team can probably play at least two positions, sometimes three.
I agree. We've got plenty of talent. We are one piece away from not just being competitive but being really good. That's a very important piece however and will be Saul's downfall if he can't figure it out.

Correct, we seem to be putting alot of stock in a guy that averaged 5 points a game for 2/3 of the season last year. He had a nice run toward the end but Gollon is not going to be a huge difference maker for this team.

I disagree a bit because you're only looking at the 5 points per game part. He scored in double figures many times once he was back in the swing of things. His outside shooting alone is huge but you have to look at what putting another competent ballhandler out on the floor will do to our depth. I feel like we have the best trio of "bigs" in the MAC in BVP, Carter and Doug. I like Kirk at a wing or guard. I am still feeling like Preston will get eaten alive by a team like Buffalo or even Kent with Avery and Walker. I think Cowart is going to burst at some point and be very productive. To have Gollon as a handler and shooter and emotional guy would be huge. I think he would instantly step in and average at least 10 points and 4 boards with 3 assists per game with this group. It would be nice to bring Preston, Block and BVP off the bench.

I agree with that assessment.

I think James brings more to the table than just shooting the three (on that note I wasn't crazy about his shot as a freshman but it has shown a lot of development and I think he could turn into a deadly addition from deep this year). He's a mature, smart player, he'll be 22 in April and has a high BBIQ in addition to being Academic All-MAC last year. I too am a bit worried about Preston's experience and James can provide a calming presence. Of course I would love to have Jordan back but James will be a significant addition in many areas in my opinion.

Gollon is average, I don’t think that he brings more tha Cowart, cowart’s defense is excellent. Gollon is a product of being on a d 1 team with not that much talent. We love him because he is all that we had, but he would not start on most Mac teams. Dartis is a little different because he can shoot the lights out and create more space for Carter. If Dartis can’t come back by January, he should take a redshirt. Preston will be a key for us, if he becomes a triple threat guard, we can compete in the MAC. Doug Taylor played very well at Xavier, he will be a key as well. The one thing that I noticed from the Xavier game is that we cannot stop the dribble drive and that will kill us if a team like buffalo decides to drive to the hole. Taylor is an elite MAC rim protector, but we need better on ball defenders. TK was getting cooked at Xavier.

By season's end Gollon was one of our most dependable players last year. He showed last year that he could easily play against top competition. He was certainly more dependable than Block was by the end of the year and hustles and makes smart plays. He will be a huge key when he returns.
