We've gotten our asses handed to us in our last two trips there if I recall correctly (last time in Groce's first season). It would be really nice to see us play well and challenge these guys. Miami left with their tail between their legs weds.

I Have seen Xavier three or four times this year. This is going to be one tough road game. I just hope we bring our A game.

This is NOT the same team that was a #1 seed a year ago, but they are still more than capable of getting to the second weekend this year. Not expecting win, but the last two games have me encouraged we can compete.

Kept thinking we have played them since but realized we have only scrimmaged. That last time down was Groce's first year with a pretty lean roster. I think Xavier was a top 10 team at the time. Steele is Groce's step brother that I think we talked about coming here early the tenure. He has been on staff at Indiana, maybe Ohio State, Xavier and has been mentored by some pretty good coaches. Will be interesting but they definitely are way more talented than we.

May be overly optimistic here, but like to think that we hold our own at least well into the third quarter against our "in-state rival."

That would be VERY IMPRESSIVE performance by the Cats, especially considering there is NO "third quarter" in Men's college basketball.

Billy, what took you so long? Was expecting a quicker reply/correction.

Seriously. 13+ hours, I couldn't believe it.

Nevermind the fact the original poster almost certainly understands that and was using a quick way to reference the 1st half of the 2nd half.

This is a winnable game. We need to cut down on the turnovers, put a little bit more snap in the passes and knock down open looks. The biggest thing will be how fast we can move the ball around and can we play with the same defensive intensity that we have the last two games.

Maybe a bit of a trap game for X also with Crosstown Shootout Saturday. Catch them looking ahead?

As a Xavier ticket holders, it will be weird wearing green and cheering for the “other team”. But I will be cheering on my Bobcats! My kids on the other hand, well they say they will at least wear something green...my middle child is optimistic and says “I can’t lose!”

Given how huge that game is, it's certainly a possibility.

Guessing the Bobcats will be about 16 point underdogs...maybe a little less.

I'm amazed at Xavier's scoring stats...five averaging in double figures and someone else close. No one averaging more than 13 ppg. Only team stats that really stand out is their 48% FG percentage and they have seven steals per game. Of course, they've played a pretty tough schedule so far.

I'm anticipating that X will dare us to shoot threes despite our performance vs. Marshall. Wouldn't surprise me if they really pressure TK to try to get steals. I also won't be surprised if they double up Jason Carter, and if so, he will have pressure on him to find the open man without turning it over. I would say his spin moves in the lane will be met with help defense.

To have any chance in this game, I think we have to be respectable from 3.

KenPom has Ohio losing 81-70 or a 16% chance of winning.

The double on Jason will have to come very quickly. He's showing a lot of maturity/confidence on his spins by executing them quickly off the dribble or pass, and not delaying the move that allows the defense to react. If the double does come immediately, hopefully Jason will find perimeter shooters who will connect. Too many young players take too long reading the defense/getting position to make their move, Jason is not among them.

What about playing off TK to take away the dribble drive? Let him shoot from 15+ feet all he wants? And definitely double Jason Carter.

Anyway, with no Dartis/Gollon we are gonna need to move the ball and shoot very, very well.

I hope Cowart continues to play will confidence like he did against Marshall. He seems to be getting more comfortable each game.

11.5 point underdogs. On the road at Xavier, that is decent respect for us. Like McKinney said, we have to hit the threes to stay in it...something that we know we can't exactly expect currently. Would also help if Taylor & Carter stay out of foul trouble, which also seems like a tall task considering the opponent.

Can't wait, wish I was able to go. Go Bobcats.

after jamaica my enthusiasm for this game lessened. but, recent games have given me hope we can run with X for a bit.

this isnt last year's X team but they have Big East talent and will give us fits, im afraid.

im thrilled the bobcats are playing in Cincy however.

I'm just looking for them to keep the momentum going from the Iona and Marshall games. Play well, even in defeat, and I'll be happy. Miami got blown out by Xavier and I'm thinking Ohio should put up a better fight.

X board is saying that three of their rotation guys, including two starters, are battling illness. They could be down to a 8 or 7 rotation.
