The BA Jinx as BG led 72-68 before Izzo's boys finished on an 18-0 run.

Johnson was BG's go-to guy on every possession. He finished with 23 pts, begging the question: did ohio offer him while he was in the portal last off-season. Game high in points despite hitting 1 of 11 from 3.

Already trying to think how we don’t lose 88-77 at BG.

WMU up big v. Canisius with several BA posters' favorite coach on the bench for the Golden Griffins.

I dont know if Ohio made a run at Marcus Johnson in the offseason transfer window, but my god he is gonna make MAC coaches tear their hair out. He was my favorite player in the portal simply for his ability to handle and shoot as a big man. BG looks a lot scarier than they did in the preseason.

Nothing exemplifies how low the MAC has sunk than tonight's 2nd-half scores: Detroit mercy leading ball st, Elon over NIU and S. Dakota over WMU. All by double digits and all MAC home games.

All three lost.
This could go down as the worst night in the history of Mid-American Conference basketball. This league is at its lowest point ever.

BG loses to 0-5 Bellarmine.
NIU losses by 50 to DePaul.
Toledo loses 80-45 on a neutral court to UC San Diego….not San Diego State.

At this rate, whomever gets out of Cleveland alive is looking at a #15 seed.
What has happened to this league is downright sad and depressing.

Memphis (who's old enough to remember when it was Memphis State playing in the national Final 4?) with a 2-pt win in OT.

Memphis State was the victim of perhaps the greatest individual performance by a basketball player when Bill Walton hit 21 of 22 shots in the national championship game, scoring 44 points in UCLA's 1973 title win. Finch was a player on the MSU team, becoming coach later.

I think we all agree how bad MAC basketball has become.

However, the conference has won 7 of 8 games the past two days. And the lone loss, CMU losing to Minnesota by 3, was probably the most impressive. The Gophers missed the front end of a 1-and-1 two times in the final 20 seconds but CMU was unable to get the defensive rebound on either missed shot.

Great few days for the MAC ...., but;

Not one of those wins was vs. a team in Kenpoms Top 200 if I am not mistaken. MAC should win those games, even in a bad year overall for the league.

That said, BG losing to sub-300 Bellarmine, and Toledo losing by 40 to anybody is more indicative of where this league really stands this season.

I don’t care that UC Irvine is 7-0. Sendy and Kent State only scored 39 points? What is this conference doing?

Wow 30 point plus shellacking! Looking at the box score, Rockets only played 8. Wondering if a few were sick or being disciplined?

And EMU beat them earlier. So this season is EMU > UT?

What a horrific hire Doug Gottlieb has been at Green Bay. Prior to today's game against D2 Michigan Tech, he referred to them as "Nobody U".

Well, Nobody U just beat them by two. Adam Schefter bodied him two days ago. https://x.com/MarkTitusShow/status/1868837998093385946/ph...

Not sure what Geno Ford was thinking, but his Stony Brook basketball team dodged his bonehead decision in its 1-point win at CMU.

.
Scout for this weekend vs Maine. KenPom has a Maine over Stony Brook win but you still gotta get there in the weather and play the game. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Touring Former Kent coaches this stretch. Just beat a winless Jim Christian led team at Canisius Sunday.

Not really prime time but watching anyway. 5 screens going most nights. What we're watching.... Alabama at North Dakota last night.

Canisius highlights this season:

10 point loss to Mercyhurst who is just now transitioning to NCAA D-1
108-37 loss to Maryland
Loss to Robert Morris
Loss to Merrimack

JC can't coach his way out of a wet paper bag.

Geez. We might still win the MAC after all...by process of elimination.

Yale, without their best player, smoked Akron in Texas last night.

This conference is so bad. 2024-2025 will most likely go down as one of, if not, the worst season of MAC hoops ever.
