Years ago, didn't the athletic director send a letter to Bobcat fans essentially apologizing and saying that we were going to right the ship. I can't remember in what sport it was but I vaguely remember getting the letter.

Realistic? What's unrealistic about asking for some accountability and someone to step in and provide some answers going forward with this now joke of a program?
Doubt you ever played ball. Buffalo hit 19 3's. They ARE ranked top 25.

At the end of the day we have Saul who is beating himself up over what's happening and posters like you and plenty of others beat him up. I'll say one thing .. there's a hell of a lot more to life than wins and losses. Tough year no doubt but I think of Saul for who he is as a person, his wife's battle with cancer, his daughter featured on national TV. Did he have recruits who had major off court issues? I can't think of any. Whereas some here worship Groce but the fact he had one player charged with assault on Court Street offsets some of his on court success in my opinion. Groce had some related issues at both Illinois and now Akron. Making the NCAA is great but I prefer a coach who gets there to do it the "right" way. You and others can continue to trash Saul if it makes you feel BIG.

Nobody discredits Saul as a human. I think it's generally agreed upon he's a fantastic man. He just can't coach basketball, or at least this program. I feel for him on a personal level with his wife's health... but he was also getting paid a few hundred thousand to coach. If he wanted to be with her and hand over the job, I would have applauded him for his dedication to her health. Nobody forced him to take that money. I also don't remember Groce being criticized while here. He didn't pick all christian academy guys... but he also didn't lose to Buffalo by 100. I'm not saying we raid juvenile detention centers for our next roster, but these are kids and sometimes they screw up... I'm sure you wouldn't want to have your life broadcast when you were a student. Sometimes guys, kids especially, need a second chance. I have no problem with adding guys like that as long as the coach has a plan to help better them on and off the court.

I can't stop laughing about the ridiculousness of the original post. Like there is one big conspiracy going on to deny the fans information about a 3 win MAC campaign and what the future looks like. Schaus and the Athletic Department owe you nothing. Like I said, by saying nothing - they are doing their jobs and doing them effectively. I for one respect the silence coming out of Richland.

Schaus: Now Russ, I can count on you to keep the conspiracy of silence going tonight on 105.5, right my boy? It's crucial to the operation that we tell the fans NOTHING about what's gone on this season. They'll know about the future when I'm damn good and ready to tell them about the future.

Eisenstein: I don't know Jim. I'm at the end of my rope with all this. It's really time the "fans get the explanation they deserve" about what's going on with Saul.

Schaus: Russell my boy. If we've established anything over the course of our working relationship, it's that I control the flow of information around here. Not you, not Ryan White, not your little WV Republican Operative buddy - nobody but me and me alone!

Eisenstein: But Jim, the fans deserve to kn....

Schaus: Russ, you either play ball with my conspiracy of silence, or you can take your ball back to those cornfields of Illinois where you came from. I've got Nellis, the alums, and the rest of the athletic department in my pocket - now don't tell me the radio side of Power 105.5 isn't ready to play ball?

Eisenstein: Understood sir. Company line it is. I apologize for doubting you.

Thanks Jerry86....I knew you'd come through...Saul apologist #1 as always. Everyone on this board sympathizes with his wife's health situation. Don't think for one moment that Bobcat fans don't care about what they are going through.

Not sure what the daughter being featured on National TV has to do with Saul's inability to not have his players throw the ball out of bounds...but good for her. I'll have to YouTube that feature.
You can never just let it go, can you? It's like having a 5-6 year old on the message board that keeps repeating everything because they think they're smart and they're funny - when they aren't.

Why does pointing out how he's decent human like Jerry is trying to be with his statements have to automatically make him a "Saul apologist"? Have you ever considered taking the opportunity once in awhile to move on and let it go on the topic of "Saul apologists" with your whining and complaining? Even just for one day?

Everyone here, and inside Ohio Athletics that has a brain that they use knows what's gonna happen in a month. I'm not sure what anyone expects from Schaus, Russ, or anyone else within the walls of the Convo to say publicly. The basketball we're watching is bad, yes. I've said it's the worst I've seen in 20 years. Just turn the channel and watch another game. There are plenty of good ones on every single day. Last night I watched the second half of BG and Akron, then Maryland and Iowa. Both were marvelous college basketball games. Ohio basketball isn't right now, but at some point in the future it will be again after a new coach, and maybe a new AD are hired.

Thanks, Bobcat Love, for the confirmation that you were there when this conspiracy was being orchestrated. Your depiction of Russ toying the company line was priceless.

For those of you who thought this post was stupid, some of you were pretty fast to chase the Bobcat down the rabbit hole.

Check out Arkley on Twitter posting that UNLV is in talks with Pitino, and his subsequent statement that Pitino will be taking a meeting next at Burr Oak Lodge.

As a Bruce fan,I think the name of the thread should be changed to "Code of Silence".
Then the thread can have a theme song.

More along the lines of "Cone of Silence." They probably still have one hanging from the ceiling in some old assistant AD's office.

I'm not sure about a conspiracy, but I agree at this point maybe the AD needs to put something about the disappointment in this season. And that a coaching search will begin immediately after the season ends.

I get the it would be a distraction for the team, but I'm sure the players and recruits already see the writing on the wall. I'm sure some are already being reached out to by other programs.

Yeah I agree. Love and Ruck are spot on. FANS do not "deserve" to see the inner workings . Business is not always transparent nor should it be. FANS should not be "embarrassed" in the bigger picture. Does it really affect your daily life? This program is still graduating it's players and by all accounts they are good people. No Bassetts, Hesters or any of the like in the bunch. No one leaving for funerals and not returning. No falsified transcripts or people having to have mentors follow them to class and make sure they are attending. FANS should take pride in that part.

You still vote with your dollars and attendance. You can still pick up a pen and express displeasure . Just do not use embarrass, joke or deserve as it will rightly be cast aside. I trust they are navigating the waters with limited funds, contracts in place and professionals watching how they do in letting go of the current and finding the replacement.

If they were to make an announcement like that, they should just let him go. Why beat around the bush?
