If Buffalo doesn't get it tonight, they have another crack at it in a week on our home court. Any more lame stances on our talent, scheme, athleticism, or recruiting? Anyone want to say tonight that our injuries got the best of us? Anyone want to ponder a what if?

Or can we just agree that the decision to hire a guy that wouldn't be the best coach in the OCC (that's central Ohio High School folks), was a bad one.

I'm bumming we didn't get to see Block pull out the bow and arrow tonight.

I definitely see effort (aside from Cowart not boxing out a free throw shooter). Skill, on the other hand....
We lost by 47 points.

Effort is rebounding: UB 48 Ohio 26

Effort is defense: UB-19 made 3-pointers (90% of them I would say were wide open looks)

But hey..much better effort from the free throw line: 12-23

Your definition of effort I guess is very much different from mine. Ohio did not want to play tonight and it was scared shitless.

In all of this, I’ll call this a half-victory if Kirk committed 3 turnovers or less and shot 60% or greater from the line.

I'm not surprised Massinburg punked us tonight, but seeing Jayvon Graves do it too was pretty disheartening.

It was like Buffalo was punishing us for bringing down the MAC this year.
Worst loss in what 20 years?

Like SBH,I too was wondering if we ever lost by this margin.
Well, in listening to the post game show, they mentioned it was 1973 against UCLA.
Saul had nothing to say in the after game show.

Worst loss since December 1973 to UCLA. Nate Oats = John Wooden? or Saul Phillips = Cleve Bryant?

Worst loss since that KU game in Vegas against the Morris twins.

Stats on ESPN have him with 4 turnovers.

However, offensive fouls, of which he had a 2 or 3, should be considered turnovers. Not connecting on trips to the foul line - he went 0 for 2 on one first-half trip to the line - are just as bad a turnovers.

For most of the Coach Billy Hahn era, I was either walking back to my place or later getting in my car to make the drive up 33, so I never got to hear the full extent of Dick Schorr's post game remarks. That being said, for tonight's game I can't ever remember hearing a more exasperated head coach and a flummoxed announcing crew (Russ and Rob.) They bluntly said there was really nothing to say, the score and the flat play said it all. It was the shortest post game show I can ever remember hearing. If you would have told me seven years ago this would be our fate, I would have thought you were a cruel Miami fan pulling our chain. How the mighty have fallen.

I still remember asking Coach Phillips at the Lancaster caravan what he thought Tony Campbell's best attribute was heading into his Senior year. Saul gave me a smart-ass answer and I just laughed it off. He is so clearly in over his head it's embarrassing. Hindsight being 20/20 he was nowhere near qualified for this job. Good riddance.

wow. as I see lack of postings, speechless. so I will throw in my two cents. I think someone poisoned my coffee in the Rhorr room before MAC play or I am trippin. As an optimist I have been in denial for too long. although they shot the lights out and playing hard running up the score at end. That was aweful!

Easy with the negative Saul comment...there are still some Saul apologists out there. But after tonight, I have no idea how any Saul apologist can say his hire has not been anything but an absolute epic failure on all fronts. I've not seen a worst fundamentally sound Ohio basketball squad.

I remember when Saul was hired he said "our teams are going to look alot like Western Michigan." I knew then we were in trouble.

If this losing streak extends out much further, some of us are going to wish that we look a little bit like Western Michigan.

If Saul stays, he needs to reconsider using zone defenses against more athletic teams. Most mid majors that continually beat power 5 teams have a particular offensive or defensive strategy that gives them a competitive advantage against the power 5.

We are stubborn about playing man defense when we don’t have the athletes to do that so any team can dribble penetrate and kick out for open three’s or dribble drive and get layups, we lost to a younger BG team because their athletes could score at will. We have a losing strategy when it comes to recruiting or game planning.

This is the most baffling thing about Saul. He's so stubborn about playing only man.

Actually, it was Jim Schaus who said that.
