Since this season is a wash, I decided to take a stroll down memory lane. Thought we could liven things up and get away from the depression surrounding this season.

So, who's your favorite player to ever wear the green and white?

Bonus points- who's your favorite player that you've ever watched play against the Cats?

Favorite cat: (The obvious selection is DJ "build the statue on Richland" Cooper) but for originality sake- I'll go with Stevie Taylor.

Favorite opponent: Lamar Odom, Rhode Island Rams

Gary Trent, especially his match-ups with Devin Davis. Then other favorites, Derek Dials and Earl Boykins and Bonzi Wells.

It's kind of a tie in my book for my favorite Bobcat player. So, I'll name two. They both played forwards on the same team, back in the mist of time in a previous age: Don Hilt and Mike Haley. Elite 8 team. In terms of opponent, that's harder, 'cause I don't really like any opponent of my beloved Bobcats, but I'll take a stab at it. This time, I'm going to name three: Rick Mount, Purdue; Nate Thurmond, Bowling Green; and Ron Harper, Oxford Tech.

I'll break it into two parts:

Favortie player & opponent from when I was a student: Shaun Stonerook, and the Charlie Coles led Redchickens.

Post graduation: Walt Offut and easily the favorite opponent (to hate) was Akron. That rivalry, in my mind, died when Dambrot left and Saul started losing more than he won, but it was damn fun from 2009-10 to 2016-17.

Favorite Bobcat(s): I have a hard time picking so I'm going with a three-headed monster. Jeff Boals, Tommy Freeman and DJ Cooper. Love players that do all the little things that win games.

Favorite Opponent(s): Two picks for opposite reasons. Charlie Coles and the Hipsher clan. I miss Charlie and nothing gave me more satisfaction than beat the Hipshers. Class vs completely devoid of class.

As a youngin, my favorite player by far was Sonny Troutman.

As a student I loved Maurice "Natureboy" N'Dour. I think he was the most gifted player we've had since Gary Trent. He had a couple iconic moments with that nasty dunk againt Valpo (may be wrong, somebody has this dunk as their profile pic) and the game winning dunk against Buffalo as time was expiring.

My favorite opponent was the 2013-14 Akron squad. They had quite the personalities on that team with Demetrius Treadwell, Quincy Diggs, and my absolute least favorite, Jake Kretzer.

Favorite Bobcat players:

Paul Baron, Robert Tatum, Dave Jamerson, John Rhodes and Snoopy Graham

Favorite players to root against (though I greatly respected them)

Dan Palombizio (Ball State) Jay Larranaga (Bowling Green) Devin Davis (Miami)

In that Congressional Spirit, I ask the Chairman--Ohio Cat Fan one additional minute to put forth the name of Coach Danny Nee as my favorite Bobcat coach. In addition, to stipulate that though I greatly respected the late Coach Charlie Coles and the late Coach Rick Majerus, man did I like to root against them.

Trent. Obvious but easy choice. Brandon Hunter second.

Opponent: Devin Davis. Made the rivalry with Miami better and more intense. 2nd choice would be Antonio Gates. I just loved the way he played and what he brought to those KSU teams. I guess he made the right choice by trying that football thing he's been doing the last few years ;)

Brandon Hunter. A player that needed a better surrounding cast. I think he. at one time, was leader in most free throws made while also being amongst lowest Free throw percentage made. Opposinging team would leave our point guards alone to triple team Brandon.

The opponent that was hard for me to root against but was a Bobcat nemesis was Antonio Gates. Among quickest catch and shoot players I had ever seen.

I always thought Brandon Hunter could have played in the NFL. He was knew how to catch a ball with a couple of people hanging on him,

This is the guy that made the shot that sealed the deal of Coach Hunter’s termination. I was sitting near the President of Ohio and the Athletic director. I could not hear the face to face conversation they had but I turned to my wife and said “Larry Hunter won’t be back mext year.”
