I will root for Simmons to dribble out the clock with his team down 2 with 6 seconds to play every chance I get. He doesn't wear our uniform anymore. Don't care.
This made me chuckle. Funny stuff (and true .... that ending to the Kent game still makes me ill)

Jaaron did not start and played about 15 minutes in their exhibition game. The three PGs all played similar minutes and produced remarkably similar numbers. Jaaron's numbers 5 pts, 3 assts, 0 to, 4 rebs.

Am I the only one who thinks he talks like a guy that still believes he can make it into the league?

If he didn't believe that, I don't think he would've transferred anywhere.

Is anyone else put off by the quote from Beilein "That's why we had to go out and get a graduate transfer like Simmons."

The NCAA is full of themselves by trying to be "fair" and "just" and then a coach like Beilein flat out admits to recruiting and pillaging other programs. I don't know how much Groce did with Offutt or Saul with Mickle but this is outright an admission of recruiting.

And the person who says Jaaron sounds like he has a chance at the The League is right -- he does. But that isn't happening in this decade. If DJ couldn't make The League then Jaaron isn't either. I still think Jaaron will regret his decision to leave and I think OU is going to be better for it.

I believe that, whenever you bring in an transfer like Jaaron, you have to do it knowing that they are just as likely to transfer out on you as they did on their previous team. I enjoyed watching him do great things for Ohio, but I also remember that we've had better (DJ for example). Dribbling out in the MAC tournament is a heck of a legacy to leave for yourself, but that was his choice.

Could Jaaron transferring pay off for us in the long-run? If Jaaron had stayed, we would have this year with him. With him transferring, we were able to pick up Teyvion Kirk. Without the move, does Kirk come here? If he turns out to be a star, we may end up being grateful that Jaaron moved on.

Jaaron isn't a big time basketball player and I'm glad he'll be proving that this season.

So far we have seen what some of these Saul pickups have done. High profile but never getting results. I think Kenny and Jaaron were great players who won a lot of games. But how much did we sacrifice to give them a few years each to show no growth and basically come into our school with their own style that never fit into Saul's style of ball movement, cutting, outside shooting and tough inside play. Kenny was a solid Bobcat who hit some shots. Jaaron was and is an outstanding 1 on 1 player. In the end, Kirk will be a 4-year starter. Dartis will be a 4-year starter..same for Carter and Block (3 years). Laster has made an impact for 4 years. I will take 4 years over 2 any day (sorry Mickle).

You commentary Is much funny,! You have no idea how much I laughed when I started reading this thread.
I, too have NEVER recovered from the way that game ended. Especially since it happened at the hands of our leader ( or IN the hands of our leader).
This is just another Bobcat’s opinion.

I sense that Mr. Simmons isn't super happy about not starting.

If he goes through this season as the backup PG on a tourney team, will that truly be an achievement for him?

The only way it is even remotely worth it is if they make a deep run. Of course, you never know. Just getting to the tournament might be worth it for him.

He should have stayed and started. Go where you can play and lead and stop riding the bandwagon. He and Zaire were partners in crime, moving on up and sitting on down.

+1

Watch Mr. Zaire last week. Had a few good deep passes. Thought he looked OK. Tuned to another game. Came back in ten minutes or so, and he was riding the pine. Apparently, the coaches weren't as impressed with him as I was. Of course, if he had come to OHIO, he might be riding the pine too, as Mr. Rourke might have beaten him out. Might be doing better at Florida if he'd enrolled in time for spring practice. Sort of a head case, I think.

If he had beaten out Rourke, we could have red-shirted Rourke. I am glad that we got Rourke, he is a God send. I was just making a point.I agree that he might be a head case. He looked good against Michigan and Mizzou and still got benched, which seems to indicate that he might not be a good listener.

That stat line off the bench will not get you in the NBA no matter what conference you’re in.

Speaking on the grass isn't always greener on the other side conversation, it was nice to see Jeremy Fears back in the Convo today.

Jeremy's protege (nephew?) comes to replace a talented point gaurd who left Athens before his eligibility expires. Beautiful.
