What’s really telling to me is his “ lot will happen in next couple weeks” statement

I admit, seeing saul on tv at the ndsu game in his bison gear, sitting with the ndsu fans, cheering profusely for them, and holding up his bison horns after a made basket really irked me. The last 5 years felt really fake after that display.

Eh - he went back to what he knows/is comfortable with. Most people do that after a rough patch. He has lots of good friends and memories there. I don't blame him for that.

He's cheering on a friend who is their head coach, at a place he was at for over ten years. I'd say it's pretty natural that he'll always to root for them.

That's great, root for them in private. Dont make a spectacle of it. Its like if you were married for 5 years and got a divorce, then 2 days later your ex wife goes on a date with her boyfriend from before you were married. Its trash.

Its really hard to be mad about that if you were the one who walked out of the marriage. You still want him to have 100% loyalty?

I don't usually say negative things but you sir, are full of crap. I am not even going to go through the exercise of telling you why because the merde coming out of your ears will not permit anything to go in.

Saul is auditioning to go home if the NDSU coach moves on. He is turning on the charisma, I hope it works out for him.

100% disagree. Not many good vibes these days in the Phillips house these days. The job he wanted, the town they liked living in - it just didn't work out. Sauls making phone calls, Nicole is looking at packing everything up and the kids are sad that they will have to leave their school and friends. Saul found a way to have a good time with the kids by remembering a good time. GOOD FOR HIM.
Now if he were out there supporting a team playing OU I would feel different.

Ohio just told Phillips he was no longer wanted in what he considered his dream job. What’s Phillips supposed to do, say “thank you Sir, may I have another?”

Wow. Just...wow. Its hard to imagine someone from my beloved alma mater could have so profoundly stupid a take. When you throw your wife out of the house and change the locks, you don't really get to complain about who she goes on a date with.

I agree I wish it would have worked out here too. But it didn't. Time to move on. I wish Coach Phillips no ill-will whatsoever but I'm not at all interested in what he's doing now. I'm 100% behind Coach Boals and this program. I do however take exception to this statement in the article:

"Like so many in his profession, Phillips was fired as a head coach. It has been fairly argued that he wasn’t given enough time or support during his five years at Ohio University".

That is pure hogwash. 5 years is not enough time? Wasn't given enough support? Are you kidding me?

In my opinion $550,000 per year for 5 years is pretty damn good support. If I'm wrong I stand corrected but I believe that equates to around $30,000 per win.

By the way it's OHIO not Ohio University!

Absolutely ridiculous statement. We fired him. It's not like he's cheating on us. This might be the worst take I've see on this site all year.

I do see a lot of great points here. I also feel like he was fake with his awww shucks demeanor. He seems like a decent dude but I don't feel the least bit bad about it because his family that is so diligently packing took our money and is better off financially than my own family. They can now retire to the Dakotas/Wisconsin/Finger Lakes Region for life and live in the shadows of Bo Ryan and Dick Bennett and be obscure. As an Assistant Coach he will be great for making jokes and letting guys not get better. Enjoy North Dakota again Saul and thanks for never getting us to a MAC championship game.

Yeah well I wont ever be in Sauls corner after what he has done to the program the last 5 years. Just like I will never be in Hue Jacksons's corner.
