Anyone on crutches, boots or braces?
I didn’t see anything that drastic. I was just disappointed in not being able to see what this group could really look like. Hopefully we get to see it at some point this year. Today was sort of like opening a Christmas present and seeing that it needs 8D batteries you don’t have. You can play with it but it’s not what it’s supposed to be. I expected Ogbanda to look a little more dominant against such a small team but he wasn’t. Preston, McDay, and Dartis all looked pretty solid. Springs and Foster, meh...I doubt we see huge contributions from those guys this year. I walked away a little concerned about our bigs, honestly. And did BVP even attempt a 3 today?

Poster above was right, it was a weird day.
I am on board with most of what you are saying here but have to respectfully disagree about Nolan Foster. For some unexplainable reason I expected that he might be a project but, in watching his play Saturday, I thought he appeared quite comfortable and performed pretty well. He had six points, led the team with 8 rebounds and had a blocked shot. Also, later in the post-game conference, Boals was very positive about the fall he has had. In so many words he said it has caused him to re-evaluate the possibility of red shirting him this season.

Also, Vander Plas looked really solid too; doing a lot of things well, although his one three attempt was not his best effort. It was one of those that you could tell when it left his hand it was off the mark.

I think you and I watched the same game in regards to Foster. He took up space as opposed to giving it up. Hands were a bit rusty but his position was very good. Having seen some recruited big men back to the Danny days, this kids should be fine if he is coached at he collegiate level.

Agree on Foster. He didnt look like a "lost" freshman.

That is great news on Foster. We NEED him while the four are out injured. I truly believe with Preston, McDay, BVP, Ogbanda and Dartis our starting lineup can compete with most teams on our sked. We will need Foster and Springs bad to give us minutes. I would like to see Michael Brown giving guards a breather as well.

He did do a few good things, I guess what stuck out to me more was when he looked confused on the offensive end (I think Boals shouted at him a few times) and I saw him get burned a few times on defense for easy buckets. I'll happily be wrong, because I agree we need minutes from him and/or Springs.

It was a weird setting. Where were all the folks in the gold section? I too was impressed with the kid from Akron. Early on, Capital outhustled us on most of the loose balls but they couldn't shoot a lick. Daris couldn't hit the broad side of barn the first half but after he made his first 3 in the second half, his smile and attitude quickly returned. Dad's weekend needs to go back to the winter when we have a real game. We used to routinely put 10K in there for a Dad's weekend game and the house rocked. Oh, the Roger Waters scoreboards looked really clear and not even Abdul Jabbar could stand in front of them.
Good observation on the scoreboards. Definitely no way that anyone is not seeing those this year.

I totally agree on the Dad's weekend. I've commented on it in the post season survey every time I've had the chance that it's a big missed opportunity not having it for a game that matters in conference play. One thought I had on Twitter was this: Flip Dad's weekend to the winter around the last week of January, and make Mom's weekend in the fall. Promote the fall color and all the outdoor beauty for mom's weekend.

My main concern for this season is a continued lack of outside shooting, and the exhibition game did nothing to calm those concerns for me. Hopefully Dartis can knock em down because I still see us as a below average shooting team.

Don’t forget Ben Roderick is a very good shooter and Connor Murrell’s shot looked pretty good at practice when I went.

Shawnee State played 4th games in six days plus two leading scorers on bench much of first half with foul trouble. I think they typically go seven deep. Miami wore them down but certainly not a resounding performance given the circumstances, exhibition or not. 82-68 was the final.

I live in Portsmouth and have been listening all evening while enjoying dinner at Patties and Pints.

Well, as you know then, SSU lost 82-68.

I understand this was four games in six days for them and I also heard they normally only go about seven deep. In addition, the announcers said their two leading scorers sat out much of the first half with foul trouble.

I realize this was just an exhibition but my take is that it would appear that Miami may have worn them down tonight as much as anything, and, it doesn't seem to have been a very good performance by the RedHawks given the circumstances.

By the way, if you've seen him play or know anything about him, do you think the big kid (6'11") could play D1?
