For last year's transfer list of over 400, I counted t8nsee how many transferred to another Div 1 school. Over 70% transferred to a level BELOW DIv I.

An O Zone with a pulse would have had so much fun with that.

That list is pretty amazing. Going back 15 years the numbers were in the mid 300s when Goodman started keeping the list and he called it a crisis. You can go to the top and click. Going from 2012 to present it is rising pretty rapidly. 877 last year. WOW! at 350ish school. People are not taking care to look at team mates, coaches, programs, skills and other factors before committing. If there are that many transfers....folks are not looking objectively at what they are signing up for.....

The Akron guys are pretty interesting. Will be interesting to see how Groce does with 3 spots opening late.

Two of those spots were open a while ago.

Wow that is a massive loss for Akron. He was their best player this year.

Saw on the MAC board that Jalen Adaway is leaving Miami as well.

Saw that too. Did not expect that as I thought the stability over west of us would be pretty solid. He was a good piece in what they seem to be building.

Here's the Goodman list: https://watchstadium.com/news/comprehensive-list-of-colle... /

Akron has 4 players already: Daniel Utomi, Khadim Gueye, Mark Kostelac and Emmanuel Olajapoke.

Also from the MAC, Miami's Jalen Adaway, Central Michigan's Andrew Myers, Eastern Michigan's Andre Rafus and Northern Illinois' Anastasios Demogerontas.

Goodman’s list is sprinkled with quite a few players from schools who have canned their coaches, but UMKC with 9 players already transferring has to be a record. Those guys wanted out of there fast, it’s only been a couple weeks.

It will be interesting , to say the least, how many of our guys will end up on that list.

Looks like Groce is cleaning house to me. Since his third year is coming up, he probably knows he has to step it up. Or do you think, the players are bailing from a sinking ship or rebellion from coaching style?

Edit: Gueye set out 2018-19 so that didn’t go well.

JSF, I'm guessing it's time for a different avatar. Maybe a Kingpin reference?

He cleaned house after year one as well. Leads to a greater appreciation of what Dambrot was able to achieve there year after year.

I don't think Boals will go after any of these Akron guys. He did say that class attendance was not negotiable and that he was only going to recruit good citizens, or words to that effect. This kind of excludes the whole Akron team! ;-)

Groce is recruiting a pg from the Columbus area, he is still getting athletes, but none of them can shoot. He makes his players focus on weight training more than anything. He gave up on parish who ended up being the number 2 juco player in the country. He has not figured out what he wants to do there, which bodes well for us.

Not a MAC guy, but interesting that James Boldon from WVU is now in the transfer portal. He was a guy Ohio was looking at way back when. I'm sure he's looking for other Power 5 offers though. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up at Xavier.

That is such a departure after having great shooters and wings. You have to wonder why the change?

A guy we offered a long time ago out of high school is available again; Brady Ernst. He's taken a weird path and I'm amazed he still has eligibility.

Iowa State -> Indian Hills Community College (JUCO) -> FGCU -> ?
