Purdue just may leave Athens with a loss as they have dropped four games this season and lost yesterday to Nebraska. This Purdue team is not nearly as good as the team last winter. Ohio can win this game at home, but as Billy mentioned HS basketball games on Tuesday won't help attendance.

Ohio will have a short bench to work with as well. Freshman PG Miles Brown has been cleared to resume practice activities, but there are more questions than answers.

Freshman center Nolan Foster (lower leg) is out, as are freshman wing Ben Roderick (hand) and junior wing Connor Murrell (abdomen).

Senior guard Jordan Dartis (knee) has not had a full practice since his injury on Dec. 4.

“It is what it is,” Boals said. “We’re going to play who we have and go after it.”

from Purdue website:

ABOUT THIS GAME

Purdue travels to Ohio on a short turnaround after going 1-1 during its early December Big Ten swing.

This game is part of a football contract signed long ago by Purdue's prior administration.

That seems about right. It's not like it'll be a tough road atmosphere either. No students and few locals. They might feel like they're practicing in Mackey.

In our three losses, the opponent has made FT's at a clip of almost 85%... We really need to improve our FT defense. With that in mind, I hereby summon the Little Green Jinx. May it's mischevious deeds grace the hardwood of the Convo and bring victory to our beloved Bobcats!
BTW, I think our Bigs will need to hit some threes early to open up the lane for JP to drive and score... Go Bobcats!

We will need the 3 to be falling tonight. With that in mind, Dartis better be playing a full game or it will be a struggle. Just hope we compete to the end.

I agree, I do not know why we leave the FT shooter unguarded in those situations!

You'd think we'd at least put a hand in his face.

We could always bring back those spiral spinners and the giant foam brick to toss around behind the basket.

Interesting line....interesting line indeed. I have to believe those outside of Athens County are going to pound the Boiler at -8.5 or -10.

Actually, it opening at 10 and shifting to 8 most places now suggests the opposite has happened. The gamblers must've liked Ohio +10 for it to shift to 8.

spread is down to 7.5 points i think if it is that close ohio figures out a way to win. Just think as short handed as we are that is a big ask.

I will never understand why in this day and age teams pack it in and guard the lane and the three-point shooters are left wide open.

True. Their 270 founder's not bad, but we're treating him as if he's Shaq.

And we will not win many games when Preston and Darty are both down. Hustling but both bad games. Ogbonda also looks lost. Wont be that way in MAC play. Just hope Morehead St. game looks better.

My philosophy would be give up the two to protect giving up a three

There are good things to take away from this game but clearly we could not defend this team with our current lineup. Defense is both hustle and technique. Hopefully our injured wings can do a better job keeping up with the quick outside players and our backup center can do better inside. But the second half hustle was really encouraging.

We were just tired. If we had Foster, Murrell and Roderick this is dramatically different.

Is it though?

Define "dramatically" cause it wouldn't have meant the difference between a win and a loss tonight if that's what you're reaching for.

This is a young, inexperienced, mostly undersized and unathletic (thanks Saul) team who will most likely struggle to finish middle of the pack in the MAC.

That's not terrible for a team picked to finish dead last and who had a short and thrown-together recruiting period. Things will get better but we haven't been in the same league as any of our P5 opponents - literally or figuratively - tonight included.

I have faith Boals can get this ship righted in a few years. It is what it is.
