So Brazil is experiencing the same problem we have in American with our youth?

You mean they aren't coming to games because the game they made plans to go to had the date of the game changed?

Oh, maybe that's not just the youth with this issue. Yes, I'm still bitter about it.

I talked to the Brazilians at the OU Inn tonight. I showed them the posts from before the Miami game and told them that their nation has a lot of fans who hope they show up tomorrow (tuesday) and that we hope to hear their soccer game cheers. They were surprised but they all seemed to think they would be their for the Western M. game. I told them that we were counting on them. Go Bobcats.

Brandon Johnson just had an incredible week, averaging 27 points and shooting almost 80% from the field.

This is another one that we have to have if we want to push for a home game. Interestingly enough, I feel like midweek games at home against Western have been good for us in the last few years.

I went to the World Cup in 2014 in Brazil and came back with a wife. Not immediately, but met at a bar, we both visited more, and she moved up and we got married three years ago. So, I love when the Brazilian students show up! I talked to them one year after a game at Jackie O's, and I think they tend to love their Athens experience.

Anyway, thanks to my wife's translating abilities, I have learned one of their cheers. It apparently translates to "go take it in the a**". They have yelled this at the referees several times in the past. I can't help but love it when I hear this cheer, knowing that the referees have no idea what they are saying.

Hope they bring it tonight!

Holy half-court-press, Batman. Who are are all those guys. Coach Boals is impressing me with his willingness to change things up and actually have The team prepared to execute the new look.

Missing too many high percentage looks and free throws. The defense is amazing, but that extra concentration on offense is not there and it's keeping Western in the game.

Where did Ohio struggle the most?

From 3-pt line, hitting 5 of 21 (24%)? Or converting on "and-1s", where Ohio missed the free throw after being fouled on a made fg 4 times if you don't count Ben Roderick's successful conversion in the second half?

The conventional 3-pt shot and the old-school 3-pt play were not kind to the home team tonight.

The press in the last few games has really changed the tempo and the aggressiveness of our team. It plays into a few strengths I think Ohio has — hand quickness as well as chemistry and teamwork. The aggressiveness on defense seems to carry over to offense where players like BVP and Preston seemed to ratchet it up a notch as they attacked the basket tremendous ferocity. So, I agree that instituting that press was a smart coaching decision.

I have always felt that the ability to press effectively adds to a team's overall effectiveness and cohesiveness. It has been frustrating to watch our boys flounder the last few years while just sticking to the same defense and play the same 8 players. Coach Boals has managed to get more players involved and appears to have discovered more than a few of the newcomers are strong and committed defenders. At moments tonight it looked like he had a defensive team and an offensive team which were being switched in and out. I love it. Show us more. This could still be a good year where we surprise in the tournament.

I can't think of another scenario that would crush Ohio basketball more than this one.
