+1 on impact of McDay and Murrell minutes. Not perfect, but effective minutes from both. McDay minutes were awesome. Roderick had a typical Freshman week, great up game and then an equally tough down game. Preston, McDay, Roderick, BVP, such a nice core to work with for the next two years (hopefully).
Anyone know about Miles Brown?

Lights maybe too bright and the other guards played so well and stayed out of foul trouble. In case of emergency, break glass. No emergency.

Anyone know why Miles Brown didn’t play tonight? He was on the bench and warmed up.

Great win! So happy for Jordy. Great game tonight for him, Preston and BVP.

As for the others: I'm sorry, but who else cringes whenever Ogbonda, Murrell and Foster are in the game? I'm glad Murrell managed to score two baskets tonight, but man... those guys are such liabilities. Let's recruit some bigs!

I don't cringe with Ogbonda until he's asked to score in the paint. He's good on the glass and altering shots. Murrell's offense has not shown up, but he had some tough rebounds and he's not one to make mistakes or get schooled. Good to have another upperclassman in that spot.

My wife remarked during the game that she thought his recent improvement was due to the coach sending BVP to “remedial foul shooting school.” Kind of made me laugh. But, her point and yours are well taken. He does have a different routine at the foul line now and greater arch on the ball.

Did anyone else see the final pre-game warmup layup by Ohio? If my old eyes weren't deceiving, Dartis took an alley-oop and slammed it home and his teammates mobbed him. Many Newark faces in the Convo tonight for a special Wildcat/Bobcat.

Flagrant 2??? No way. Foul? Yes. Ohio gets big call in its favor there.
Which one are you talking about? The elbow and ejection? Easy call, intentional, your tv doesn’t give you the backstory to that one.

Last I checked the rule book nothing on which player has to play. Game is about matchups! Young man has a bright future, but at end of the day decisions are made to get in best position to win at discretion of coaches. Nothing more and nothing less. Not everyone is a good matchup. B-Rod didn’t play much in 2nd half, again about matchups and chances.

What Boals has that OHIO has missed is someone who will change it up, who will take a chance at a wrinkle and go with a hot hand. It’s no longer an everyone gets a trophy game at this level. Next game is a new dynamic.

If you cringe when Ogbonda is in the game you need to actually watch the game. The man has presence, he changes some shots, he fights for boards, he establishes position on the defensive post. Does lots of little things. But if you expected a grad transfer who is 6’10-11” post player who dominates both end of the floor, well he didn’t go to a MAC school from the ACC. Man has been a big positive to this group, scoring or not.

And to think, Boals must have read the post on here two weeks ago wondering why he’s not working on FT’s during practice. Thank gawd for this board.

^^^What a great feeling that BTC critiqued four recent BA posts by lovebobcat, The Ohio University, OCF, and OhioBobcat - yet spared me and my post. I can go to bed now.

No worries, you had a BTC approved post. However, I’m sure SBH will tell us how you failed to get on the court like the freshman when you played behind McCracken or Grover back in the day for intramural basketball,

Jeff said Pippen had already threatened to do what he did to Ves.

Boals said that postgame? Anyone who criticizes Vest at all need to just look at that play alone. He got Pippen ejected by simply being aggressive all game and getting that diva to crack.

You can toss in Foster and Brown. They are only going to get better. And just wait until Jay Pres has Towns to oop too for 2 years!!!!!!!!!!

It sure seems like this team is peaking at the right time. Stay focused and find a way to at least go 1-1 next week and let’s see how it shakes out in the standings. Really impressed by how Boals is not afraid to sit people when he realizes it’s not their night. Murrell got the second half playing time over Roderick. While Murrell makes me nervous, he did get some key boards and hit a big shot. I was hoping Roderick could get some more minutes, but it was clear something was off last night.

I happened to be watching the interplay on the lane after the first FT and before the foul. It was premeditated, discussed, pantomimed and set up - all within 5 feet of the official. No brainer. Undisciplined doesn’t begin to describe the sheer idiocy of this act. In fact, if the MAC has any nads they’ll sit the kid down for a game or two.

They need to move the ball a little bit faster, some of the passes are so slow that the defense has time to recover, the team does always make the extra pass. Remember it can be a game of inches and seconds.

Sort of echoing BTC here but if you can't tell we're better off with Ogbonda on the floor vs. when he's not I'm not sure you're paying attention to both ends of the court or what he's doing away from the ball. Fairly obvious he doesn't have good touch on his shot or the moves to iso him on the block so Coach doesn't ask him to do that. Now if you cringe just when he does get the ball in that situation about one time a game I agree but that's more on the guards for throwing it in there.

I've said this elsewhere but if we don't bring in a JUCO or Grad Transfer "big" before next year I'm very concerned with the rotation at the 4/5. BVP obviously a lock, but how many of us are comfortable with a rotation of Murrell, Springs, McMurray, Foster, Towns & Granger getting about 50 minutes of game time combined? More than likely at least 1 of these guys isn't here next year anyways just because it's the norm now that guys out of the rotation seem to be leaving more often. I hate to even mention it but I about barfed last night when they confirmed BVP is getting his degree this year (except obviously that's outstanding for him personally and way more important than Bobcat hoops).

The thin bench production of the Bobcats has been well-documented. So if you told me two starters would combine to score one point last night, I'd have assumed a sure loss. Even more so if I'd been told no player would get more than six rebounds.

Rather than realizing "it's not their night," he's sending them a message that if you don't play hard you don't play. Roderick has had a handful of plays recently where he has been remarkably passive and has been relegated to the bench.
