I said the same thing. The only thing missing was the referees didn’t have on their Kent State jerseys. I’ve never seen Erica frustrated, but at one point she was on the ground and there was no call. Hell if they blinked, the refs blew the whistle.

Despite making almost every mistake imaginable in the 4th quarter, they still mounted a comeback and took the lead very late.

The offensive foul on Johnson looked a little soft, but she has to keep her cool there. The technical foul gift wrapped the game when they could have still had a few seconds left for a tying three.
Were you there? If so then we saw things differently. If you weren’t then I doubt you saw or felt the cause of her frustration. Did she deserve the T of course. You can’t slam the ball like she did without expecting a technical.

On the other hand when you put your heart and effort totally into the game, when in almost the exact same spot you were run over and knocked to the floor earlier in the game with no foul called, when you have dealt with typical MAC officiating all night it’s not totally surprising to me she reacted the way she did.

She played an incredible game.

These are all good points, and put the T in a little perspective. As I said, I was not able to watch the whole game, and I was watching it on ESPN+, not in person.

Ohio gets the bye to Cleveland. Bobcats steamrolled Miami in the second half, and Ball State did their part by edging Western Michigan in OT, 64-63. Ohio moves up to the fourth seed, and WMU drops to fifth.

Thanks for the news on the seeding. Was at today's game, and it was great to get two victories over Miami in two days!

Erica's half-court shot at the first half buzzer was a wonder to behold. Can anyone post a video of it?

The video of Erica's half-court shot (with a beautiful feed from Hooks) is on Ohio women's basketball twitter feed, together with an ESPN Top 10 request. I think this link gets you there.

Looks like we will be playing the winner of #5 WMU and #12 BGSU. Either way, Ohio will have a score to settle.

Thanks! That's completely different angle than the one I had in real time. Still a great shot, no matter what the angle! ;-)

Things the seniors showed in Saturday's game that I hope continue in Cleveland:

1. Katie Barker. She was injured in the Akron game, and Ohio lost that and the three following games she was out. But she started against Miami, and was moving pretty well in 13 minutes of play. Teams have to account for her on the perimeter as Ohio's 3-point bomber. Having her play, and getting her touches in the tournament may make all the difference.

2. Maddie Bazelak. She got the start only because she's a graduating senior, but played 17 minutes because she earned it. She gave Ohio a physical presence under the basket, ran the court relentlessly, and showed a scoring touch. Can she duplicate her 5 point, 5 rebound performance in the tournament? Will she get the chance?

3. Amani Burke. Some seniors wilt under the pressure of senior day, but she shone with one of her best performances of the season. More than her numbers, which were good - 18 points, 4-8 from three, 4-4 from the line, 4 steals - she looked like the focused, determined leader of this team. Ohio will need that intensity in Cleveland.

I thought Burke was our only Senior, then Bazelak joined as a Graduate Transfer. You sure Barker is a senior?

She was honored on senior day, but has potential to apply for a 6th year from the NCAA. If rejected, Saturday would have been her final appearance in the Convo.

She is listed as a Junior. My guess is she has graduated and maybe thinking about getting on with her life.

Western Michigan beat Bowling Green tonight, so Ohio will play the Broncos in the quarters on Wednesday. It is the second game of the day, and will start at around 2:30 PM. Western beat Ohio 73-72 in Kalamazoo in the only previous meeting.

Toledo clears some road for us, riding a 20-5 third quarter to take down Central Michigan. Wow.

Early impression of the empty arena games... really easy to hear individual voices. Could make for some colorful language making it through the broadcast.

This is huge. The way we finished I saw no feasible way we would get passed CMU. Now I love our chances.

I'm guessing CMU won't get an at-large bid after that loss, despite their RPI of 19 going into the game. Losing three of your last four games is no way to impress the committee.

Looks like things are pretty much on time, with the first game ending at 2:00 P.M. Ohio/WMU should start at about 2:30.

I'm not even joking, this play by play guy on ESPN+ sounds plastered.

Gotta love the men's team behind the bench turning into the student section in the absence of fans, cheerleaders, and band.

84-75 win. Now all of a sudden we are the favorites in the semis Friday.

Thank God Erika & Amani were hitting the Threes. As coach alluded to, they gave up too many easy ones on defense and if WMU were shooting a little better we could've been in trouble. Beck & Kroll stepped up well when Hooks missed a good chunk of the game with foul trouble.

The strategy to leave Cece completely open on the perimeter creates problems for Ohio. Makes it a lot harder to distribute and cuts down her chances to use her excellent driving abilities. Makes me wonder if a different gameplan with her bringing it up the court less is worth considering to have her cutting in from the wings.

Bob Boldon's strategy of bleeding the clock with a 6 or 7 point lead when there are still several minutes left always puts me on edge, but it worked today, and actually I can't recall a game that Ohio lost when they've gone to the semi-stall.

Great to see the seniors step up. Amani Burke hit her first shot of the game, then missed the 3 other shots she took in the first half. But she rebounded in the second half, and ended up with 20. Katie Barker crossed up the defense by going inside for two buckets in addition to hitting a three. Coming into the game, 30 of her 31 made shots in conference play were threes.

The director must have shared whatever he was having. He kept cutting away to show the faces (or backs) of players or coaches while the ball was live. Missed the front end of many plays, and in at least one case a turnover.

Ball State just went down, so Balls and Central gone already. Maybe Buffalo will make it 3 of the top 4 seeds gone on Day 1 in Cleveland.

Looks like we have a really good opportunity to make the finals!
Of course one game at a time.
