This game will prove to me if this team is for real. We've beaten the bottom feeders (and don't tell me Ballz isn't a bottom feeder). Now it's time for a win over a Toledo, a BG, an Akron, a Kent or a Beefalo. If am sick of being .500!!!!!!!!!

For me, it's a bellwether game in terms of how Ohio competes, and whether or not they're within a couple possessions at the end. A "W" isn't the measuring stick at the moment for me.

I do agree with this. This team has to stop being non-competitive against quality MAC teams. I'm not saying a "W" tonight is mandatory for future success in March, but they better be in it until the end or this becomes a bigger issue.

Not pretty near the end, but a win is a win.

I was dogging BVP all game (do SOMETHING!), but that block with under 30 seconds was the winningest winning play of the season so far.

I think Buffalo exposed a weakness out of Preston. His jump passes are going to get him into a lot of trouble real quick in the NBA, and there were several where he jumped without a plan.

Was a bad habit of his first two years but thought he got that out of his system . . . until it reared its ugly head tonight.

Very crappy inconsistent officiating tonight.

I was trying to watch games on 2 tv's at once, so maybe I'm off base - ??

(The other team blew a double digit lead at the same time, strange!?!?)

When Wilson missed the front end of that one-and-one, I had a sinking feeling that this was not going to end well. Then, after it was over, I texted a friend, "Better to be lucky than good!" This not to discount some of the great play during the game from guys like Wilson, Preston, BVP, Sears and Roderick. There were spurts of very good basketball by the Bobcats tonight, but boy the lapse were butt ugly.

This has been an odd season for many reasons, but one is how few close games there have been. Until tonight, only two were in doubt in the final minute: Illinois and Northern Illinois.

Great to have this one come down to the final seconds and see OU make the winning plays. We need a little more experience in crunch time... preferably experience WINNING these types of games.

I agree that the spurts were notable and hopeful when thinking about future games. Buffalo is a pretty good team and I think our defense should get some credit for holding them in check

Over the off season, I was thinking that the young returnees were going to have to step up if we had a chance. We also were led to believe that Wilson would have to sit. His being eligible has made a huge difference and Sears came out of nowhere as well. As an eternal optimist, I can imagine continued growth and a really good team by season’s end. That said, Wilson better stay healthy because so far there’s been no stepping up with his backups.

Nice win. Team fought hard. This team has its limitations, but they got it done.

There is an unusual theme in the MAC standings at the moment in this year of no divisions.

If you are a University in Ohio then you are above .500. (Toledo, Akron, Bowling Green, Kent St, Ohio, and, yes, somehow Miami is above .500)

If you are a directional school you are (way) below .500. (CMU, NIU, EMU, WMU). Usually the computer averages still look fairly favorably at the MAC due to the lack of really bad teams at the bottom. They have limited data in 20/21 but this is probably not the case this year.

If you fall into neither category (Ball St., Buffalo) then you are exactly .500.

BVP played a great game defensively, and have a few big takes to the hoop. Wilson was the man. We are a guard focused tea but the big boys won us this game. Roderick had a great game too, he is looking more and more comfortable moving with the ball.

Agree JP made a few mistakes but he also had about 10 would be assists creating good looks that our guys didn't hit. He made some incredible passes.

I know with the emergence of Sears, minutes are harder to come by for Miles Brown...but it seems like I am always pleased with him on both ends of the court every time he is in the game.

We are 2 behind Akron but given our next 2 opponents, I am hopeful we will both be 8-4 when we meet and fighting for the 2 spot.
