Absolutely one of the most dominant three game stretches in Ohio basketball history. Amazing. Congratulations! Great coaching and great play.

The Elton article has a few irritants, but not bad considering his past writing about Ohio.

Vanderplas does so much that does not show up in the box score. His passing breaking the the press was huge. His defense inside and outside against the 3 ball. The clutch 3s were the icing on the cake. He is a matchup nightmare for other teams. He is a stretch 4 and that opens up the lanes for Preston.

I said all year I was so impressed by the Illinois game and this team is extremely good. Have to admit I didn’t expect this run though, so proud and excited for the Bobcats. Let’s goooooooo!!!

Yo so Lunardi has us as a 13 seed vs Purdue, the very team Jon Crispin said we would give fits on the broadcast 🙌

So fun making Alexander write this stuff about the Bobcats.....

“Ohio University put its full package on display Saturday night”

This cannot be your lede.

Even for a person who doesn’t have the mind of a 13-year old, this is not a sentence you can write.

Grow up. It's fine. In fact, it's one of the best EA news stories I've seen. Ironic that it comes after his retirement.

Agree on the article, SBH. Solid summary of what happened last night.

What I like most about this team is that it's almost Zen-like in turning it opponents' advantages against them. Our team is athletic enough, but when they're playing well they turn opponents' sometimes superior athleticism against them.

That starts with the deceptively deliberate pace with which our point guard runs the offense. Our patience opens us up to mistakes by the other team. Sometimes that happens early in the shot clock and sometimes late. Opponents sometimes try to force the ball out of Preston's hands and we counter with Sears on the ball and Preston doing his thing from the wing.

Defensively, we aren't the best at defending field goal attempts and we've had days when the help defense is off a bit. But, this is countered by solid defensive rebounding and solid assist/turnover ratio. We're pretty sneaky on steals -- taking calculated risk. Opponents are pressured to be shot makers against us.

Not only is this fun to watch. It's the kind of team that can win a couple games in the NCAA tournament.

No, you insufferable.

Clunky. Double entendre. The lede sucked. Tell me the last time you heard a coach talk about “displaying his full package”in the next game? There would be an awkward pause and he’d rephrase.

Now I’m going to go play blocks with my two year old. He has more interesting thoughts than you ever have.

I don't think it's horrible but it completely misses the flavor of the game. BVP's three was huge but the story of the game was Jason Preston. It's almost like he was a nice supporting piece and not the headline story of the tournament. Other than listing his stats Elton's biggest accolade for Preston is to say he's a "quality point guard."

“Quality point guard”

Ha... if that is all that Elton thinks of Preston then he thinks Scarlett Johansson is only a 5.

That would suck from POV that it’d be a pain to get tickets that are already scarce. Plus a sorta home game for Purdue (as much as a 25% capacity arena could provide)

Any idea if OU gets an allotment that could be made available to OBC members?

This team feels very similar to our 2010 run.

Didn't win the league, came into the tournament with question marks, but put it all together at the right time with some dynamic players.

Didn't expect to win it then. Didn't expect it this year either, but both were sweet. What a great job by Boals and staff. What an impressive stretch of games we've been on since that Kent loss on January 16th (9-1 since then).

Let's go to Indy and replicate Georgetown.

Now how do we get tickets?
Strangely similar. I wore my 2010 championship shirt to the game. Then when I walked to my seat I realized it was almost exactly where I sat for the championship game in 2010. Knew right then it was going to be a good night!! And by the way we represented well in the reduced capacity arena. Lots of loud Cats.

Go Cats!!!

This is told from a different perspective (more about Boals) but I don't know how you write an article about our championship run with zero mentions of Jason Preston.

There are several errors in the article, including that apparently he thinks the MAC tournament has only included the top 8 teams for several years now.

My family and I were flying home from vacation yesterday, proudly wearing the green and white. We came across several folks who either had Ohio ties or saw the game the night before. It's great to see our program get a little national attention like that from time to time.

Also, I heard Bilas on the radio this morning predicting that Virginia should be concerned about playing us. Bilas spoke highly of us and notably Preston, which must pain Jay Bilas deeply. I've always felt like he doesn't want mid majors in the tourney at all. He also mentioned he wouldn't be shocked to see the 2nd round matchup in our bracket be Ohio vs UCSB.

But OU got the break it needed when a potential offensive foul was missed and Vander Plas hit a corner 3-pointer at the end of the shot clock, soon followed by another trey to cap a 9-0 run and deliver a 61-42 advantage.

Okay, I know this is old news but I've been thinking about the statement above in Elton's article because I didn't remember the play that proceeded the inbound to BVP. I just went back and watched it and sorry, Elton, but this is complete BS. Segu was beat by Brown off a pick by BVP and had a path to the bucket. Segu tried to recover but the contact was by Segu trying to slide underneath him from the side. Clearly a block and Buffalo was lucky it was a no-call. Bertram sent Brown's shot into the cheap seats to set up the inbound to Vander Plas. But Ohio did not get "a break" there.
