If I didn’t know any better, I’d say everyone on their message board was 5 years old with all the misspellings lol

If I didn't know any better, I'd read their message board and actually think they've done something significant in their basketball history like win an NCAA tournament game. You know, just one.

Check out page 13. Back in the 60s when they played at the college level, they were one of the best teams in the country. Since 2016, they've played in 4 NCAA games and 10 NIT games.

I went to some of their games in old Memorial Hall, which sat fewer fans than Litchfield Jr. High gymnasium. Not so sure the NCAA looked too hard at some of the "student athletes" on those teams.

I played in Litchfield. No way it sat over 3000 fans. Now you guys did have your own planetarium though. :)

Now don't be dogging Don Williams and Len Paul and some of those guys. I remember listening to Akron U vs. Winston-Salem State in 67 when WSSU had Earl the Pearl. Great regional chmapionship game with Akron losing by 8 after finishing third in the country in 1966 (they played a consolation game back then).

Assuming that the rest of the MAC games will be played, Ohio needs two wins in its last five games, or one win and a loss by EMU, to clinch a MAC tourney spot. Ohio is 7-4, so the worst we can be is 7-9. One win gets us to no worse than 8-8; two wins to 9-7.

The top eight teams get into the tourney. WMU is currently in 9th place at 3-9. They have five games left, so the best they can be is 8-9.

CMU is in 10th place at 2-9. They have five games left, so the best they can be is 7-9.

EMU is in 11th place at 1-7. They have six games left, so the best they can be is 7-7.

NIU is in last place at 1-8. They have five games left, so the best they can be is 6-8.

No way Memorial Hall sat 3,000. It had 3 rows of bleachers along the sidelines and then another 3 in balconies on each side. And yes, Alan, we at Litchfield and Firestone looked down on the rest of you folks.

Getting there and getting there and winning are two different things. 0-4 in the NCAA games. Those Dambrot teams failed to deliver on the biggest stage. Kent St, who their fans love to ridicule and mock, have 4 NCAA tourney wins and an Elite 8 appearance.

63-42 overall, barely over .500 in conference play at 34-31.

I'd just add, it's so much fun poking fun at the Roo's intentionally, knowing it will show up on their message board in hours. That's a sensitive bunch up there in northern Ohio. :)

Maybe they can do another bobblehead night with Lebron in Akron garb?

Which is an improvement for the Dukes. That program has been horrific for decades.

Dambrot’s predecessor at Dusquesne, Jim Ferry, was 60-97 overall and 21-65 in conference in five seasons, and, that’s just their most recent history of futility pre-Dambrot. There are many other examples, including the efforts of our own former coach, the highly regarded Danny Née. Coach Née was 42-102 and 20-60 in conference, also in five seasons (2001-06). As much as I am not a fan, Dambrot has performed very well there.

Agreed. His trend in his first three seasons was up each year both total and conference wins. The man can coach.
