This is like thinking about your ex-girlfriend on your wedding day.
I agree, but, why should we stop at thanking Saul on a message board? I say, those fans should take up a collection for his contributions and at least get him a ring for his contributions
So by that logic, Schaus should get one for hiring Saul and McDavis for hiring Schaus.
I believe that this one goes all the way to the top -- the Board of Trustees for hiring McDavis (who hired Schaus, who hired Saul) and for the governor for appointing all of the board members. But, then we go populist and give credit to the people of Ohio for electing Dewine. That way everyone in the whole State of Ohio gets a trophy . . . er ring! ;-)

For the record, my initial post was nothing more than one of two innocuous thoughts that came to mind as I watched Jason and Ben dominate the Toledo game. The first was that leadership from outstanding juniors and seniors really helps win championships. Their veteran presence was no more evident than in that game. Also, as the networks have the Jason Preston Story on rewind--I have no problem with that; the more it is heard, the better for the program--I was just thinking I'm so glad Saul Phillips was one of two college coaches who took a chance on Jason off of that Twitter video. Now that I think of it, that scholarship unexpectedly became available when Jaaron Simmons bolted the program for Michigan. Hence, our short-term misery transformed into long-term gain.

Geez folks, calm down. The sentiment of the original post was reasonable and appropriate. Let's not over complicate this.

We've gotta give former Ohio coach Saul Phillips an "assist" in our tournament run as Ben Vander Plas, Jason Preston and Lunden McDay were his recruits. That being said, we've got the right guy in coach Boals to take us back to being a MAC-title contender and beyond...
McDay was opening his recruiting, Boals came in and made sure that deal was closed. Please get over the Sual worship.
And do we win last night without BVP and JP? Hell no. THINK before you post. There's no award for the most posts as far as I know. Unless you aspire to be Monroe 2.0.
So, when we win, should the department buy Saul a MAC Championship Ring for his contributions? Asking for a friend. Should they have to pay him a bonus?
So you want to evade your attack of Flash Gary? Good try at trying to change the subject. Those with inferiority complexes often exhibit this kind of narcissistic behavior.

PS Doubt you have many "friends".

That said, your one post or more closer to Monroe.

When lead was down to 10 BVP nailed 2 BIG 3's. Watch a replay in case you missed it.
Does Saul get an “Assist” because BVP made the two 3’s? This is silly, Saul is not the coach. If you feel so strongly about it, send him a thank you card.

Please enough is enough! Be happy that the Bobcats were winners and advance to the NCAA in this crazy Covid year. Saul is 18-1 and doing well again this season at Northern State. His team is in the NCAA Regional. Boals got his team to play outstanding in Cleveland for three games and won the league tournament. Be glad that the league office included at least 8 teams this season for the MAC tournament, instead of just four. The Bobcats win the tournament as a five seed. In this wild year when games were postponed across the nation daily, it wouldn't have surprised me if the league included just the top two teams for a playoff to determine the representative to the NCAA tournament. Or even worse, the regular season winner advances. Akron was the regular season winner last season and didn't get an opportunity to advance. Quit bickering and be thankful Ohio is able to play another game. On another note, maybe the key for the Cats winning the league tournament is to be a three seed or lower. Including this season and the two years with JG and the one with TO, the Bobcats were never higher than a three seed when they advanced to the NCAA. None of the NCAA tournament teams ended the regular season as the top team in the East. All of us should be thankful that we are able to watch the Cats play again in a few days.
