All of that is true and none of it makes him "one of the very best Bobcats ever."

Well, he is undeniably one of the best Bobcats to return and coach... As far as I know.
That may be, but he's got some trophies to win before he's considered better than his own coach, and former OU player, Larry Hunter.

He was a senior and the captain but I don't think he started any games before getting injured. It maybe needed senior leadership from a guy with leadership ability as a person and tenacity on the court. If I recall the starters were:
C Terry - Jr.
F Trent - Jr.
F Simmons - Jr.
G Johnson - Jr.
G Ford - So.

I don't think that you call I guy that could not start his senior year, even though he was playing under one of the more talented starting fives in school history, one of the schools all time great players. That's a comment from an announcer that is getting paid to announce a particular webcast on a program with which he has little familiarity.
He may not have started the majority of the games but he was hugely important to the team chemistry. We had two starting guards that were looking to shoot before they passed. Boals was essentially a point forward. As soon as he went down our half court offense died. Not going to argue that he was one of our best players ever but he certainly was in my top 5 favorites.

Not sure who our unavailable player is.

Granger, Brown, Towns have played 1st half.

Miguel?
Miguel and/or McMurray. Neither has seen the court. Although I think I see McMurray on the bench.
Russ and Rob thought Miguel was the person they did not see on the bench.

It's amusing Kent has a kid named Bainbridge.

He’s easily in my top 5 for the intangibles and toughness he brought. He kept Gary and Curtis in check and was the guy who got every loose ball ad was the enforcer.

Yep, the gold standard in terms of an alumnus coaching the Ohio basketball team. We can all hope that Boals turns out to be both as good and as long tenured at his alma mater. If so, we are in for a very nice run indeed. Some say it can't happen in today's environment. Maybe so, maybe not. Time will tell.
