Boals says all but one guy is available, not a starter, on the radio broadcast.

Can't feel bad for Pippen missing if it's self-inflicted (altercation).

Confirmed by the Record-Courier that Pippen appears not to be playing.
There's a rumor that Pippen punched Justyn Hamilton during practice before the Buffalo game.

Still, this is a MASSIVE loss for Kent State and a HUGE bonus for Ohio! Wow!

Not sure who our unavailable player is.

Granger, Brown, Towns have played 1st half.

Miguel?

How bout this D, only 7 field goals allowed in the 1st half. Very happy to get to halftime with no player reaching 3 fouls given how dire that looked about 10 minutes in. Guys look good, comfortable and confident. Good vibes. Go Bobcats.

We finished the first half with 11 fouls. It looked like it was going to be worse than that at one point. Nobody has more than two individually so cross your fingers.

Ohio is shooting 68% while Kent is at 29%. That's basically the difference. Most of the other stats are pretty even. They outrebounded us 14-13 even though most of the missed shots came with Ohio on defense.

Boals shuffling the lineup to account for early fouls but perhaps more so to help deal with the layoff combined with the need to play three in three if we are to win it all. IMHO I think it’s what is needed to have a good shot at winning the tournament. Admittedly it’s a balancing act since you obviously have to win this one to keep going.

Miguel and/or McMurray. Neither has seen the court. Although I think I see McMurray on the bench.

Well, I think our shooting isn't feeling rust. Maybe the passing, but team seems to be hitting everything. Question now is, when do you take out all starters and just clear the bench to keep everyone fresh for tomorrow?

Michael Reghi "Bainbridge misses the three but you don't want to leave him open because he can get hot and drain 3 or 4 in a row."

After today's game he is now 4-40 career from 3.

I'd still take Reghi over most commentators who are assigned to the MAC.

I was spoiled by the games where we got Russ and Rob while on ESPN+ etc.

Reghi also called Boals "one of the very best Bobcats ever"

Huh? Loved what Boals brought to the court but not sure how Michael defines "best."

But maybe the four were all in a row.

I was surprised to see BVP still in the game with about three minutes to go and Ohio up 20+. He played 36 minutes today according to the MAC box score. Nobody else played more than 25 for Ohio, so the team overall should be well-rested for tomorrow.

McMurray was in for the last 2:15 of the game, so Miguel must be the unavailable player.

They won the preseason NIT with him and weren’t the same team after he blew out his knee. Was he Gary Trent? No. But he was a heart and soul guy that was greatly missed and it probably cost us a NCAA appearance and maybe a run.

All of that is true and none of it makes him "one of the very best Bobcats ever."

He was a senior and the captain but I don't think he started any games before getting injured. It maybe needed senior leadership from a guy with leadership ability as a person and tenacity on the court. If I recall the starters were:
C Terry - Jr.
F Trent - Jr.
F Simmons - Jr.
G Johnson - Jr.
G Ford - So.

I don't think that you call I guy that could not start his senior year, even though he was playing under one of the more talented starting fives in school history, one of the schools all time great players. That's a comment from an announcer that is getting paid to announce a particular webcast on a program with which he has little familiarity.

Well, he is undeniably one of the best Bobcats to return and coach... As far as I know.

Hell of a win. Honestly, for me, whatever happens from here on out is gravy. I think getting these guys to win on this court in March is going to be huge for next year...not matter what happens Friday and hopefully Saturday.

I was very vocal in wanting Boals in place after Groce left....and that was still a big mistake not hiring him back then....but we have our guy for hopefully years to come. Didn't need a win today to validate that, but this program is very much in good hands with Boals running the show. And if Wilson returns next year...holy cow.
