Yes great win at CMU after a tough loss to Ball State early this week. Noticed that Kent is leading the MAC at 4-0, but had some games postponed due to Covid.

Massive win! Seems like Erica chose her shots much better, nailing 3 of 5 from 3...also 6 steals! Another tough test on Wednesday. Win that one and we can get serious about contending for a MAC title again.

Incredible comeback by Ohio to beat Buffalo 84-81. The Bulls went on a 15-0 run to start the 4th quarter and went up by 13. They were still up 11 with 2 minutes to go. Bambule hit a 3-pointer with 11 seconds left to put Bobcats up 1. Hall had a layup roll across the front of the rim and off. The final minute was without Erica Johnson and the Bobcats trailed 81-73 before closing on an 11-0 run in the final 55 seconds.

That was a really exciting finish. Bambule with the go ahead and Hooks with the dagger. Got just enough of an edge with the turnover and free throw battles to get the game in reach with a minute left.

I don't know what the special sauce is to recruit so much size to a MAC team, but Buffalo has found it. They look like a Big East group.

Really nice comeback win. Actually one of the more impressive in all of my Bobcat fandom! I'm usually a real optimist, even when we are down late, but frankly, before the rally began I had given up. I was sounding like one of the disgruntled guys on Chat during a men's game. I had even dreamed up a way to blame my wife for the impending defeat. Since she blamed me for the BSU loss because of my maternal Icelandic descent, I was going to blame her because the Beefs had someone with the same first name -- Hannah. Sometimes our family doesn't mix logic and basketball! :-)

Seriously, this game reminded me of a men's game back in the early 1960s, when OHIO was down 15 points to KSU with just a few minutes to go, and ended up winning the game in OT. A comeback, then, was a little harder because there was no three-point shots, and the clock would keep running while the refs took the ball out of the peach basket!

Yes, that was an unbelievable finish, especially with EJ having fouled out with a minute to play. Coach Bob rarely shows much in his post-game interview but tonight it was obvious he was pleased, almost giddy.

It was clear that momentum had dramatically shifted, I just thought it was going to be too late. I didn't think we had time to come all the way back, but the ladies proved me wrong. Hell of a finish!

Absolutely bonkers. Check out this play by play in the final minute.

1:04 - E Johnson fouls out, Buffalo goes up 81-73
0:55 - C Kroll made layup, Buffalo up 81-75
0:50 - C Kroll steal
0:46 - C Hooks layup, Buffalo up 81-77
0:36 - K Bambule steal
0:34 - M Mace makes 2 free throws, Buffalo up 81-79
0:33 - Buffalo turnover (G Burris block inbound)
0:12 - K Bambule made 3 pointer, Ohio up 82-81
0:05 - Buffalo missed layup
0:02 - C Hooks made layup, Ohio up 84-81

That's a 9-0 run in 45 seconds featuring 3 turnovers, 0 fouls, and Buffalo never really getting past half court.

There was a really heads up play by Boldon before Bambule's shot. They tried to go back door with Burris and it was a very contested layup attempt that fell off. We were extremely lucky to get the rebound and it looked like Cece was going to force a bad shot in traffic, but Boldon called timeout just in time.

And another heads up play calling the timeout when Cece got the rebound off Buffalo's last missed layup. Buffalo had the possession arrow and was going for a held ball, but Boldon didn't give them that chance.

Yea, how did Buffalo corner the market on 6'2-6'3 post players? That was one of the tallest groups of MAC women's players I have seen.

I'm guessing concussion protocol after the fall she took in the last game. She did come back later in that game, but maybe they found something later in the locker room.

Cece Hooks goes for 38 points on 14 of 23 shooting and 8 rebounds with no Erica Johnson. Bobcats squeak out a 69-63 road win at Western.

The ladies pull out another comeback win, with their best player out for the game and CeCe in foul trouble much of the game. BumbleBee (as I call Bambule) really stepped up. I started calling her BumbleBee because the first time I saw her play it sounded like our pa announcer was saying "Bumble Bee" when he pronounced her name. You know how those Army grunts talk with those drill sergeant voices sometimes! (ha-ha) Now, if you look at her play and the way she flits around the court, I think BumbleBee is a good nickname for her.

Tough loss at Eastern who played great D including on the last possession when we couldn't get a possible tying three off. Held the 'Cats 16 below their average. Strange look as we were in the home whites as Eastern choose their road unis as they have played much better away from home?

I agree, very tough loss. When OHIO went ahead by one with a few minutes to play, I thought that they were going to pull this one out like they had the last two games, but it was not to be. We didn't play very disciplined toward the end of the game -- put up some wild shots and had some out-of-control plays. Some, but not all of that, was attributable to EMU's great defense.

That was truly painful to watch. Not much ball movement. Lots of out-of-control and forced shots. The only thing that kept us in the game was EMU's inept shooting. It was one of those games where a 5 point deficit felt like 15.

Cece led the team in points, rebounds, assists, and steals. She almost did it herself. People need to step up.

Yes, lots of out-control and lots of forced shots. And yes, Cece did it all herself although I think that is part of the discussion to get better. Cece has exactly 40 assists on the entire season to go with 40 turnovers. Her great ability to drive needs paired with an improved ability to dish it out when she doesn't have a great path to the hoop.

Team is shooting just 27.8% from 3 since 1/1...that isn't going to cut it when you're hoisting 30 a game.

Hooks tied for third in nation in scoring at 26.1. EJ #26 at 20.2, I don't believe any other team has two in top 25? Team is #22 in nation in scoring offense (79.9). Both men and women have to give better defensive efforts on a consistent basis?

Women are really interesting to follow right now as so many new faces are getting a lot of minutes. Tonight against undefeated (4-0, haven't played much) Kent and no EJ and I think somebody else was out due to contact tracing, Cece followed out with 5:50 to play and the Cats up 6. Final score 85-70. Gabby went 8 of 9 from line down the stretch.

Go Cats.
