TK was aggressive Saturday and actually played one of his best games in a while. He was about the only one putting ball in basket. Again, if we shoot 25% as a team, how many assists can you really rack up? I'm not justifying such an upside-down ratio, but to blame TK for all of these issues is really missing the big picture. Basketball is still a team game.
Nobody is putting all the blame on him and saying it's his fault for what has transpired this season. However, you can't get around it....the numbers are truly hard to fathom.

Here's an easy place to see the numbers. The regression in the numbers is a little startling. Of course there could be several reasons for the regression. It's hard to explain the FT% though.

It's just mind boggling. He can't run the show next year...can't.

Chuckles, do you really think that will be a choice?

Well...it should have ended a long time ago with him running the point...but here we still are. Give the ball to Preston and see what he can do running the show. You have nothing to lose.

My hope is that if TK is still around, the next guy in line will realize he's not the man to be the PG. He doesn't really have the outside shot to be a 2, but he could be a 3. All of his best skills (getting to the hoop, rebounding, etc) resemble a 3 anyway. He would be undersized at that position though.

Well guys...it finally happened. For the first time in 22 games, TK had more assists (3) than turnovers (1) today.

I was just thinking about what could've been if Jason Preston was given more PG opportunities as a freshman and had to go back and find this thread. Ignore the spirited rabbit trail debating what level of critique is acceptable, but note all the countless calls made to let JP run the point.

I can't completely fault Saul given how little experience Preston had. In some ways, you actually have to credit Saul for recognizing enough potential to give 29 minutes per game to a freshman who barely had a high school career.

On the other hand, by February after seeing data like this on your point guard as the team is reeling and your job in jeopardy, how do you possibly not make a switch there?

I was right there with Saul. I just didn’t see how a guy who played at such a glacial pace could be your point guard. I was entranced by Kirk’s athleticism.

And then we see a guy like Luka Doncic become a superstar by playing the game at his own pace. The thing that I thought was Preston’s weakness was actually his strength. It’s what makes him impossible to keep out of the lane, that incredible use of his body and the vision and passing skills to perfectly complement it.

I’m an idiot, is what I’m saying.

The guys on ESPN called Preston's style "making the game look easier than it is."
