Now 2 schollies to play with. Rife just nevet gained steam but wish him well. Time for some grad transfers of JB and JPs choosing. Who wouldn't want to play with JP?

We have one scholarship to work with. AJ Clayton accounts for one of the two new openings.

Am I correct that in saying Clayton was originally in next-year’s class but graduated and is enrolling early? Redshirt candidate?

So I understand - the recruiting grid is off

http://www.bobcatattack.com/basketball/recruiting.asp

Murrell is out, but Sears is in as part of class of '24 - thus putting us at 13 (4-5-4). Clayton has reclassified as class of '25. So we needed one scholarship to begin with. So McMurray and Miguel opens the one we needed plus one additional. Classes (understand these have some Covid flexibility) currently stand at:
'22 - 3
'23 - 4
'24 - 4
'25 - 1
available - 1

Right?

I'm pretty sure we are allowed to carry 14 next year only because of the rules relating to the pandemic and that would be Wilson's scholarship. He's the only person at the end of their eligibility or that number could have been larger.

My understanding is with Clayton in and 2 guys out plus this new rule for this year only we can still bring in 2.

After next year presumably we would drop back down to 13 allowed. Weird thing is even next year no one else HAS to leave after the year is over besides Wilson.

Going to be a lot of transfers from some bigger programs too. Michigan alone will probably lose 2 or 3 to playing time. OU as a tourney team could definitely push for a kid from a bigger program.

Clayton is a "freebie" due to DW3 exception. Two to work with.

Just because we CAN go over the limit doesn't necessarily mean we will or should.

Right?

This year didn't count for anyone. So I think all the current freshman and Clayton are now part of the same class (2025). Basically, everyone stays in their same season eligibility-wise, their "graduation" class just drops back a year. For example, BVP and Preston are still juniors, just now part of the class of 2023. Am I wrong on that?

If we can add 2 impact guys yes we need to fill. If we only get one impact then save it. I have to imagine Boals knows what 2 more DW3 type impact players would mean a lot. He needs JP and BVP to do some recruiting.

As he did last year as well. He was a senior this past year and UT fans weren't expecting him to return for the free extra year. I think he was mentally already in the portal when UT lost in an NIT first round game.

Right, the thing people are missing is that Wilson's scholarship doesn't count toward the limit, so Clayton is essentially taking Wilson's scholarship that was opening up whether he stayed or left. Now there are two more open with the transfers.
