Ok so the one-time transfer rule without penalty has passed, but do we think just because it's the Covid year (and everyone gets a freebie) that this year's portal has gotten to this point? I can't imagine it getting much worse than this.

I can . . . unfortunately.

I'm gonna play devil's advocate and say no, it won't get worse than this year.

Here's why: while this year anyone can transfer anytime/anywhere, etc. because of COVID, that won't be the case in the future, and there won't be this weird concept of having more than 13 scholarship players after this year either.

Let me be the first to wish him well in his future endeavors in Alabama.

Northern Illinois' Tyler Cochran is sticking in the MAC, heading to Ball State. Averaged 15.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game last year, but only played 12 games. I'm trying to find out why, but I think he missed a lot of time due to Covid protocol?

Certainly helps Ball State's loss of production.

And KJ Walton stays in the MAC as well. Transferring to Akron.

Cochran also battled a leg injury.

Some interesting movement of late.

Miami gets a 6'7'' wing player from Boston College

Pretty much every impactful player from Eastern Michigan is leaving. Heath cleaning house?

Evan Bainbridge from Kent going to Ashland. Bet you McMurray lands there too.

One of my personal favorite high school players, Darweshi Hunter, going from Weber State to NIU. From Cincinnati originally, I really wanted Saul to offer the kid back then.

Darweshi's high school teammate, Gabe O'neal, now leaving Kent.

Adding validity to above inequality: EMU just got a transfer who was a 4-star recruit out of high school.

I’ve kind of lost track. So how many 1-3 team all MAC players and all freshmen team players will be leaving after this year? I guess we will have to wait until after the draft or the combine to tell for sure, but it seems to me that there’s a lot of proven talent leaving.

Wasn't James Thompson IV 4-star also?

Wasn't Johnnie Jackson a 4-star when he went to BC? We were giddy when he transferred here. And don't forget Marin "NBA" Bota.

Not clear at this point but I think it's safe to assume that.

So with McMurray, Foster, Miguel and White transferring out and Carter in, where are we on spots?

If Schmock is on scholarship and Preston returns, we are full. If Preston is drafted and Schmock is a walk on, we have two open spots.
