At 4-1 in conference play, there is optimism on this board again.

Toledo on deck.

Boals is 1-11 all-time against Toledo as Ohio Head Coach.

Tod K is his Daddy.

Miami was up 30 in the first half at Toledo the other night.

This is not the Toledo of old.

Boals needs to get the Tod K gorilla off his back.

First game back from break… Simmons coming back to town… I think the crowd is gonna be a factor, juiced up and on him all night.

Hopefully they can weather an early storm and wear them down like they did vs Buffalo.

This definitely isn’t the same Toledo of old, but they’re still sitting at 3-1 in the MAC and beating OU is always a game you need to steal. OU should be feeling pretty confident having knocked off Buffalo and won the last 9 of 10. Haven’t seen a spread yet, I suspect it’ll be Toledo by a couple. Need to lock down their guards and not get beat up by Parks (6’10 C from Ohio State) and Craig on the boards.

Odds of Simmons getting a T against his old team are high. You know his former teammates will try to bait him. Hope staff makes this a coaching point heading into the game.

There is a part of me that hopes they do try to get into Javan’s head. IMO, from my observations, when he gets a little irritated about something he becomes an even bigger force around the basket. I think he’s also doing more of that when he thinks the team really needs it. It’s been fun to watch.

I think I've noticed that also. When someone guarding him gets in his grill it brings out the competitive juices in him.

And because of the Rockets' focus on Simmons, Hadaway may avoid a technical....

Just to play devil's advocate, how many "former teammates" are actually still there at Toledo? Other than the PG Wilson, seems like the roster is completely different from last year.

But I agree that he will be baited one way or another. Not expecting a warm welcome from the Rocket faithful. Got to embrace the villain role.

Hopefully their big refuses to shake his hand pre-game like the UMass big.

I'm sure the coaching staff remembers.

It's back to OU's on the ball defense. Toledo likes to attack (like UMass) - that sets up UT's three-point attack - and the Bobcats have been lacking in this area defensively. The Rockets have two guards from Detroit that get busy on defense so ball movement vs. dribbling is important. Neither team shoots the 3-pointer super well - but, who gets hot? In rebounding, Toledo is pretty good on the offensive glass. Ultimately, it's going to come down to limiting turnovers and making free throws.

We are outright second in the MAC standings.

The only team ahead of us is an undefeated Miami team.
Who have they beaten, Akron?

Folks the Cats are in control of their own destiny.

Miami just beat the shit out of Toledo in their own building on national TV.

Toledo might not be the Toledo teams of the past couple of seasons, but Boals is still 0fer in Savage Arena and only one win against the Rockets in his tenure at Ohio. Boals and Ohio need this win a lot more than people think, psyche wise.

2.5 point underdogs tonight. Another big one!

Things run thru Sonny Wilson at Toledo, their point guard who was in the same class as Simmons. There may have been a lot of turnover but I would love to know what at least these 2 think of each other. Sonny is averaging 17 per game and can get hot from deep. The Freshman Leroy Blyden looks very solid at SG so between those 2 it is a guard heavy offense.

OSU transfer Austin Parks will likely be on Simmons most the game, but returning Sophomore Ouwinga may guard him as well and those dynamics could be interesting, depending on what they think of each other. Inner conference transfers are always fun to watch.

Boals not getting Chaos out of the game with two fouls with under three minutes to go in first half is inexcusable.

Well, that was a lousy end of a good half. I doubt we can play much better than that. But, Gave away a lead, played without any focus to end the half. l don’t know how division one basketball players lose the ball the way we did? I have a feeling this is going to be a loss.

Seems like every time we play Toledo, they put up 90+ on us. On track for more of the same, but at least we're keeping pace.

Shame we wasted that blistering start with some careless ball handling. Cut down on the live-ball turnovers in the second half and we may be able to salvage something. And keep going at 'em, Javan!

Listening on the radio and the last five minutes of the half sounded like Coop was on the court for the Rockets. Steal, 3, rebound, steal, drive for bucket, steal, alley oop, 3!

When Fear Leon was right. I’ll be cashing my “Simmons gets a T at Toledo ticket” at the window.
