Not much positive in this one, but that JJ Kelly block was fantastic.

Pav is playing his ass off. There's that.

I might need to start the Kelly swats a 7-footer tracker.

Pavs is 3 of 3 from 3. Rest of the team, 2 of 14. Including our shooter, Sheldon, 1 of 5. Not a recipe for success with our limitations in other facets of the game.

Defense is reverting to the way it was in the first game. Most nights we’re gonna have to score 90 to win because our defense really really sucks.
Love it when we guard the lane and give up the open three.

This was Liam Campbell's 3rd ever game and he averaged 3.5 in the other two. He has 20 tonight.

Ohio is not challenging the MAC's top teams with Sheldon playing over 15 minutes a game. Unfortunately, I don't see many alternatives.

It just epitomizes how bad this roster is compared to good teams. Fortunately, they’re probably aren’t very many good teams in the MAC.

Jason Toy just mentioned injuries to Breath and Conners. Didn't give details. Also said Elliott didn't make the trip.

Without Conners or Elliott, we have no choice. It would be a shame if when they return it comes at a major expense of JJ Kelly's minutes.

No E2 and Conners tonight…so no choice. But your point still stands. He’s been a very difficult watch now for the last 37 games. Should never be starting a game at this level of college basketball.

Big boy hoops tonight and Saturday. This isn’t the Columbus Summer League…that’s for sure.

I think this coaching staff really needs to look at the way they are doing things and make some changes. If they don’t, this season is really gonna be disappointing.

If Sheldon ever starts another game for Ohio, Boals should be charged with a crime against coaching

Elliott, Connors, Kelly, and Burris should be playing more than Sheldon...

I think the head coach is just stubborn. He’s gonna play Sheldon no matter what. My concern is he doesn’t recruit rebounders defenders or shooters. That is a recipe to be mediocre. I will say at least it looks like he recruited some athletes this time around.

I started watching after the end of the football game was over. I went from one disappointment to even a bigger one. It's not just that we lost this game, but it's how we lost. We looked like a high school team against an NBA team. I know that St. Mary's is a very good basketball team, but they aren't as good as we made them look. I don't think Akron, or Kent or UMass would have looked as inept against St. Mary's. Not saying they would have won, but that they would have just put up a better fight. St. Mary's almost doubled the pre-game line. I'm now expecting that we will be a first round exit in Cleveland.

Eh, we're down three starting caliber players and half the guys who played tonight are freshmen. R-E-L-A-X.

We got to see a little more of what we have further down the bench. I hope to continue to invest in Kelly with minutes and wouldn't mind seeing Evans mixed in a little more. Burris... not ready yet and maybe back to the bench when one of the injured guards returns.

Sheldon's minutes just have to go elsewhere if we're healthy. He's a hustler and I do like his ball hawking chasing rebounds and getting deflections. We need more than that out of a starting shooting guard. 12-15 minutes, not 33.

Some might call it hustle, I think a lot of times he’s just playing out of control.

+1 Shab. Missing 3 of your top 6 players puts you in a massive hole. One that can turn a respectable 10-15 point loss into a 30 point blowout.

Not defending Sheldon’s repeated 30+ minute outings at all, but he did lead the team in points and rebounds (!) today. 1-7 and 1-6 from 3 from an SG is just not cutting it though.

+1….except for Walking Bucket getting minutes. He’s clearly not ready to contribute this season.

Sheldon’s shooting over the last 37 games makes Ben Roderick look like Steph Curry in his last two seasons wearing a Bobcat uniform. And BRod couldn’t throw the ball into an ocean his Junior/Senior years.

Years from now there will be a case study as to why Boals went into the 2025-2026 season with Sheldon as his starting shooting guard and playing 30+ minutes. If this continues…we have no shot. Coaching malpractice is an understatement.

You are glossing over the loss of Breath as well. That dude is the X factor for us this year. He takes the pressure off of Simmons to be our inside guy. His hustle around the rim is key. With our three missing guys we probably still lose but it's much more manageable like 10 or so points.

Not glossing over....I mentioned Conners and E2 here in relation to why Sheldon had to play 30+ minutes against St. Mary's.

And even with Conners, Breath and E2 we are not losing by 10 points to St. Mary's. It would have been between 20-30 points. If St. Mary's didn't sleep walk the first five minutes of the game, we lose by 40.

I didn't get to watch, figured this would be an ugly loss -- even with the full rotation.

Looking at Box Score only -- Sheldon leading the team in minutes continues to bewilder me - down 3 guys or not. Even more so with the 1-6 3PT slash.

All said, can't really judge this team down Connors, Breath, and Elliot against a perennial Top 25/tourney team.

Just last week we grinded out a win against a Top 3 Mid Major.

Zero positives. Well, maybe two.

- Jack. Continues to show he's the only player able to shift gears into that next level vs higher level comp.

- AYDEN. Yes. Indeed. Not a typo. 8 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block in 13 minutes.

Sheldon... I just... what are we doing here? He had a couple rebounds and assists, but this kid couldn't hit the ocean with a handful of stones. He is the kicker of our basketball team. If he's not point shaving then I don't know whats going on.

Kuany is getting more and more minutes, Burris getting more minutes, JJ is active... all things we need. I think (hope) we get there come MACtion time, we just need to put the ball inside the circle.

Does anyone recall ever having our football team and basketball team playing concurrently before?
Didn't FB play on the same day of the multiple OT game up at St Bonny? Maybe Castricone was on the call in Olean as Russ and Rob were doing FB.
Yes! The New Orleans Bowl.
