Does a half year walk on take time away or will he still have 4 years?
Depends on how many games he ends up playing. I think the rule is a third of our games is the threshold.
For what it’s worth, he’s listed on the roster as a sophomore.

I think the more interesting thing is that he’s a walk on. So with McDay gone, will we have another open one for next year, or will he probably get a scholarship then? Or would we need it for DWIII/BVP super duper senior years?

Reading the BG board, they may be without Kaden Metheny tonight as he rolled an ankle against Miami and was put in a boot. They don't seem very high on him anyway, but he is a starter.

They have a ton of guards to choose from and they can play small and push pace. They generally shoot pretty well and rebound well. They are very turnover-prone. They have committed 13 or more turnovers in half of their games, though they are improving there as of late. At the same time, opponents have committed 13 or more turnovers in eight of their games. They have also committed 20 or more fouls in six games, but they've also had opponents commit 20 or more fouls in six games.

Seems like a team that plays haywire and makes lots of mistakes, but somehow forces the opponent to make a lot of the same mistakes. I think we can neutralize their two best scorers, Plowden and Reece. BVP usually gets the assignment on Plowden, but I think Carter matches up better defensively. If Brown is out again, we are going to feel the absence greater than we did against Kent. This could be a game where both teams score 80+.

I would guess he is paying his way this year but would pick up McDay's scholarship next year?

Ohio opens as a 9.5 point favorite.
Line is down to 8.0

I was expecting BGSU to be a contender but they've underachieved. But with their talent level, they can beat anyone in this league on any night

I'll add to the Jeff McKinney Voice of Caution (TM):

As much as any MAC team, BG does seem to have Ohio's number. We're 10 games under .500 against them all-time (Ohio's worst record against a MAC foe), including losing three in a row with teams that were quite likely superior to the Falcons.

Potent offense meets potent defense. Excited to see the matchup...Have to hustle. I bet we force a bunch of turnovers tonight and hopefully we can slow it down a little.

I appreciate the scouting report and pregame thoughts. Thanks!

Thanks for the report Shab! I think if we keep up our minimal turnovers, don't make errant passes and keep our stellar defense I think we should fine. I also agree about Miles, I hope he is active tonight because we could use him tonight. Guy's just a superb ball defender.

BRod has been a liability out there (again) tonight. Getting more productive minutes from Towns and AJ.

More turnovers (2) than 3 pointers (0 for 3). One official TO (stepped on sideline) and 1 unofficial (missed front end of 1-and-1).

We’re going to probably shoot better than 20-25% from three to win most games unless Sears is getting 20 on drives . Last time I looked we had 3 starters shooting 2-6 and another 1-5. Ouch

Man, Bowling Green appears to be great actors. They flop on the floor constantly or throw their hands up like they're hacked.

What a pick up Tommy Schmock has been. Some of you criticize Boals for his recruiting, but him or whoever on the staff brought Tommy in found a diamond in the rough. Wish we had him for another year.

I'm not sure Schmock shouldn't stay in the starting rotation when Miles Brown returns.

Schmock and Clayton came up big tonight. Ugly win, but I will take it ten times out of ten in conference.

Sam Towns got some good experience tonight.

Good job hitting FTs down the stretch.

We are spoiled. This team and program is awesome. Let's keep it up. I will never get sick of winning.

Ohio never trailed but it sure didn't feel like it. The biggest lead was six until the last four minutes, and it was a one-possession game for a huge chunk of the night.

It's something when Sears has an "off night" with "just" 19 pts, but he only had 9 from the floor and was just 4 of 12.

Carter came up big time and Schmock really came through.

Ohio won the boards 43-33.

Nice job by Russ and Rob, although whoever put together the end graphics needs to wake up. Some video was provided by "Bolwing Green" and they had the copyright as 2021, not 22.

By my count Sears is 19 of 20 from line in last 2 games. Half of his 4 FG tonight were off of offensive rebounds. How many times can you say that about a 6-1 point guard?
