I did not see any evidence that Towns gave us more than Brod woulda this game
I have nothing against Towns but he had 2 points in 17 minutes...that is around his average for the year, is it not?

BVP with 1 block tonight giving him 60 in his collegiate career. By my count, 59 of those have been down low before the shooter even has a chance to get the ball in shooting position. The guy knows what his strengths are and are not.

Towns brings a lot of energy, can eat minutes, and has fouls to give. Other than that, 2 points, 2 rebounds and a block is a fairly empty stat line for a guy that played nearly half the game.

ESPN treats MAC basketball like Grade E beef by pre-taping our halftime.)
Couldn't agree more and said so multiple times in the chat room. Two espn announcers weren't even in the building. Not sure how factual some of their info was. MAC football/basketball games on espn are nothing more than informercials for the big P5 televised games on Saturdays.

Give me CBSSN coverage over espn. CBSSN shows respect and showcased the best of the MAC the last 2 Fridays with good games, best MAC teams, and best MAC crowds. Really good look for the league.
They did the same thing with the Horizon game (CSU v WSU) that followed. The canned interview between games was reran during halftime of CSU-WSU. Note that the between games airing was labeled "Halftime Report."

Here we just whipped Buffalo on the road and most of the chatter on here is a comparison of BRod and Towns. Smh. Guarantee if we would have gotten hammered tonight, there would have been a bunch of critical posts.

A really bad performance by the Beefs, but Ohio had a lot to do with that. To get this win under our belts is huge going forward.

Jeff, what's your honest, unbiased, assessment of BRod's production this year? I have no problem with disagreement on this and other subjects but there's nothing wrong with the discussion.

The conversation on here is warranted and harmless. Ohio is good enough to beat most teams on OUr schedule with his production being what it is. But we needed more v. the better teams we've faced this year and will need more if we're to beat those type of teams later in the year.

Just one fan's opinion.

+1.

Why can't people be happy Towns stepped in and played while Roderick sat and we got a W on the road? Anyone who wants to suggest Roderick has even had a mediocre year is dreaming based on expectations.

My reply - We Beat the Beefs tonight. Brod out and Towns starting was Insignificant to the result. Brod hitting a handful of 3's, plus his typical stats avg, incl driving/slashing occasionally/some tough vs opponents slashers/bigs D - I'll go with dat. Add Sam for a few minutes more even better. We have mo/better mix from the bench now so roll w/dat!

Big win on the road in the MAC against a contender. Roads wins over Akron and Buffalo gives Ohio real good shot to finish top two seeds in the MAC. 6th road win for the season. 16-3 overall 7-1 in MAC. Lots of basketball left, but this balances out the home lost to Toledo. Schedule sets up nice for Ohio with three home games in a row. Good bounce back this week.

This thread is about the Ohio at Buffalo game. That's what I'm here to talk about, not an analysis of Ben Roderick's season performance.

I just watched the replay. Our defense was ferocious. Buffalo got very few open shots. Our offensive effort was mainly Sears and Carter but the guys out front (Smock, Miles and Sears) are outstanding on defense. Rebounding was also impressive.

I have been watching games now for a number of years and I believe that overall this is the best defensive team I have seen.

When was the last time we pummeled Buffalo on the road like that?

My goodness.

Sears was outstanding, Carter was a machine in the first half, and Miles Brown was very efficient. I felt like Sam Towns contributed more than his box score shows, he had some nice hustle plays.

Buffalo's offense looked all kinds of terrible - kudos to our defense.

Maybe, just maybe, this injury to BROD, and time off, will be a positive for him when he returns to the lineup. This is the way I am looking at it.

Yes, because a message board is so formal and by the book. Maybe you can share your thoughts in another thread.
