While winning is always the goal, we need to not get blown out and be there at the finish line against a quality, quality opponent.
But we’re playing Buffalo.
The team that blew Ohio out of the Convo in last year's final home game.
We have plenty of experience not being at the finish line against non-quality, quality opponents.

Who among OUr starting 5 would you put on Williams? OUr bigs, BVP and Carter, have to match up v. Mballa and Skogman. If not one of those two then it has to be BRod or Brown, no? I can see Williams taking advantage either way, taking BRod off the dribble or posting up Brown. I'll be interested in see who and how we match up against him.
Do we consider starting Towns? Been playing better overall ball recently. Not sure he matches up re: strength or certainly not experience.
I think most of us here would highly consider it but not sure if this is the opponent to try out an experimental starting lineup.
We're 15-3 and have lost 1 of our last 11 games and you're asking if we should consider changing our starting five against Buffalo because a bench player has been playing slightly better recently, but lacks strength and experience?

Um, no.

I would add newcomer to starting lineup, Skogman, to Williams and Segu as good outside shooters. A 6-10 player that will stretch the floor.

Edit: oops, just saw you edited your post with a mention of Skogman.
No worries! Skogman is a solid player but he can sometimes be a liability defensively. It hasn't worked well when Skogman and Mballa have been on the floor at the same time.

Also killing UB is their lack of quality contributors behind their Big 3. Keishawn Brewton and Maceo Jack have been dreadful for them this year. Hardnett doesn't see the court anymore after being banged up for the majority of the season and the rest of their players are low level contributors.

This roster is lacking meaningful minutes from their freshmen outside of guard Curtis Jones. Whitesell recruited three 3-star guys to Buffalo last year and none of them see the court. They could have some issues once their Big 3 departs.
Great analysis Form! We have a chance with our larger depth but will be interested to see B-Rod's status going into this game. He seemed to be limping towards the end of the game Tuesday. If we contain Buffalo's big 3 I believe we have a solid shot at it.
Not sure how you come up with more depth. We have 8 guys averaging over 10 minutes and they have 9 plus we have two guys averaging over 34 minutes and they have none.
I just meant I thought we have a stronger bench than them with Clayton, Towns and Schmock. Yes Ezuma needs more development but I think other than their three seniors many of Buffalo's players haven't really done much this year.

Boals agrees with cc-cat.

Towns gets his 3rd career start tonight over BRod.

Didn't say BRod was out in pregame. I'm not there in person to know if he's dressed or not, but he hasn't seen the floor yet and IJ Ezuma has so....

Yeah Russ just confirmed "Ohio without Roderick tonight" but he even sounded somewhat confused by adding "If he could have gone he likely would have started"

37-20 at half. We went on a big run at the end of the half grabbing rebounds and having a few steals.

But I don't think there would have been a change if Brod were healthy.

Brod got dinged a bit in the Northern game and did not practice yesterday.

Really great win. This coaching staff and this team continue to impress me with their toughness both mental and physical given how short this team’s bench is.

Giant thumbs up to this officiating crew. That was a physical game, and yet the game kept moving and finished 10 minutes early (catching ESPNU off guardand filling time with a canned interview. Speaking of which, ESPN treats MAC basketball like Grade E beef by pre-taping our halftime.)

Can agree with that. Huge win for us and massive momentum for Ball State on Tuesday. Will be starting on dirt sheets soon.

Value is beyond player comparison. Flexibility - gives you ball handler, scorer (in theory), big man off the bench. Also felt that teammates did not hesitate to go to Towns and (personally) feel they were recently with BRod (understandably).

Couldn't agree more and said so multiple times in the chat room. Two espn announcers weren't even in the building. Not sure how factual some of their info was. MAC football/basketball games on espn are nothing more than informercials for the big P5 televised games on Saturdays.

Give me CBSSN coverage over espn. CBSSN shows respect and showcased the best of the MAC the last 2 Fridays with good games, best MAC teams, and best MAC crowds. Really good look for the league.

W/O seeing all the final game stats - min played, scoring, rebounding, etc - I also did not see that Towns starting or Brod not playing was significant to the result. I like them both - Hope Brod gets hot by March - Hope Towns continues to play with energy...(BTW - His 3 lob was pretty well off - but Luv his energy!)
