Akron basketball is right up there with Fiami and Marshall for me. Can't stand them, NEED the W!

Groce being pre-game interviewed on 640AM.

He said they are going BIG. They are near tops in the country for getting to the free throw line because they have been trying it to get it down low and work over the opponent.

Challenges for Zips is the inside outside of Carter/BVP

We have played a soft schedule except for Kentucky, LSU and Belmont. Akron is better than the teams we have played since LSU.
Um, have you looked at Akron's schedule?

+7 in the rebounding department. Need to keep having contesting shots and hitting the boards

Lots of good things happening on the court but how far can this team go getting practically nothing offensively from 2 starters (please don't confuse this with whining)?

Watching Carter take Bandaogo to the rim reminds me of the old-timer at the Y schooling the athletic young gun.

Would like to see Roderick hit another 3 or two before the end of the game, and Ezuma get a few minutes in.

But man, Sears is so, sooooo fun to watch play. If he can improve his passing game next offseason he could easily be a 1st round draft pick after his jr year. He’s so good.

I'm gonna go ahead and say it: if the way Sears is shooting this year is real, he's gonna end up the best PG to come through Athens.

Sears, Brown, tech, then Carter fouls were all pretty soft.

Great Victory. Took every rally by the Zips and answered them every single time!

Radio call of the game for me from the Akron radio station. "Oh, my! Miles Brown at 6'1" just went up and took the rebound away from the 7 footer"!!!!!!

Did John Groce hypnotize the officials after that technical call?

Nonetheless, Marc Sears cares not for your weak homer calls, zebras, and put us on his back. Nice win!

Anyone see the tech call on Boals? Seemed like he was just talking to the players when it was called... oh well. Impressive that we fought through the adversity of a couple rough calls on the road.

Really impressive win!

Let's go! We are now in the driver's seat of the MAC

As painful as it is was to blow that lead, it was so great to see every one of those players so engaged, enraged and energized in sealing that win. They really want to win. That had a TOS “life on the road in the MAC” feel when the lead evaporated and this team willed themselves to the win. Really awesome.

Ali is a great player but the D held him in check in the first half and then forced him to panic in crunch time. Just a great performance by our guys when not everything was going their way. Keep it rolling against Kent.

I'm interested to see how Mark Sears finishes around the basket against the Zips' inside duo of Bandaogo, a 7-ft frosh, and Freeman, who plays taller than his 6-7 height. Sears has shown in 1 1/2 years as a Bobcat the ability to finish around the hoop despite being just 6-1 with the exception of OUr games v. LSU and UK and their long frontlines.
Very impressed with what Sears showed tonight around the rim against bigger defenders for the Zips.

Well, I’m really happy about that win despite the scare towards the end. Those fouls were annoying. It seems like the shooting is finally getting a bit better. I’m really excited about this team!

By the way- I joined up here way back when I was in college at OU but haven’t really posted till now. But I’ve been lurking for a while.
