Out of the gate the Zips face-off against the pre-season projected top two teams. They handle the Beefs at home with a dominant 2nd half performance to kick-off the New Year and now get OUr Bobcats.

A road victory in the JAR anytime of the season is super and one this early would be super-fantastic! GO BOBCATS, click on all cylinders for 40 minutes and extra if needed. Play that lock-down D and let all the conference know that points will be hard to come by when facing the BOBCATS.

Either the atrocious shooting streak ends or the win streak ends in Akron.

To put a more positive spin on it…if our shooting touch returns to form while continuing our excellent performance on defense we have a good shot at a tough road win.

… encouraging “bobcat positivity” in 2022…

I'm amazed we're 10-2 with the way we've been shooting. Defense has been winning for us, along with our shooter/scorer Sears. Without him, who knows what our record would be.

I'm amazed we're 10-2 with some quality wins and no bad loses and people are still whining on here... Wait, I'm not surprised at all...

I'm definitely not whining, I'm just realistic. We're not shooting well and our margin feels razor thin when that happens. That's going to bite us on a night when our opponent IS shooting well. Playing a quality opponent, who also happens to be a rival, on the road, this will be a really tough game if BVP and Roderick continue to lay bricks from deep. I think they're both going to come out of this funk eventually, and at the JAR would be a great place for it to happen. As good as the defense has been, I don't think we're holding Akron to 47 points.

Two points here: You're right, it 'feels' razor thin, but the reality is that it hasn't been so. Other than against Stetson, we have won every one of other games by 10 or more points. The feel and the reality have not gone hand-in-hand.

Secondly, I feel like the second comment, about it 'going to bite us' when our opponent shoots well makes it seem that the poor shooting our opponents are experiencing is just luck on our part. The truth is, our defense has appeared to be amazing so far, causing these poor shooting nights. Good thing is that defense is a lot less likely to slump, so this bodes well for us in the future. This assumes we don't run into refs that are looking to call every little touch.

Anyone going to be at the JAR? Slim pickings around campus for pregame. A couple of Bobcats and I are going to the Score Draft Room. Never been there, but going to give it a try.

Too many on here confuse stating the obvious with whining, whether it's on the football board or here on the basketball board.

I'm interested to see how Mark Sears finishes around the basket against the Zips' inside duo of Bandaogo, a 7-ft frosh, and Freeman, who plays taller than his 6-7 height. Sears has shown in 1 1/2 years as a Bobcat the ability to finish around the hoop despite being just 6-1 with the exception of OUr games v. LSU and UK and their long frontlines.

R.Shea and Missing Mountain are amazing. They're not necessarily on campus (more near Rubberducks) but they're excellent for food and beer.

I agree these are both nice choices. Closer to campus, Lock 15 and Akronym are solid breweries.

This is a fair point, but the hard truth is that it's not that hard to make a team like Western Michigan look like the Washington Generals on offense. They're well into the 300s in PPG and offensive efficiency. They are even worse when it comes to turning the ball over.

Does Groce have Akron playing that 1-3-1 zone or whatever zone it was he liked this year? Could see a lot of that if so. And, if so, guaranteed I'll be thinking too bad Jalen White is gone sometime during this game. That kid looked like a killer shooter to me.

(Maybe stick Clayton in one of the corners and have him shoot threes.)

Akron's 4th-leading scorer, guard Bryan Trimble (not be confused with guard Greg Tribble), did not play in Zips' most recent game, a 12-point win over UB. Not sure why or if he's back v. OUr team. Interestingly, UA shot 40 foul shots to UB's 17. Ali Ali (not sure if his middle name is Ali) took 22 of UA's free throws.

We have played a soft schedule except for Kentucky, LSU and Belmont. Akron is better than the teams we have played since LSU.

I believe he was in health and safety protocols for Covid but I could be wrong. Buffalo was without M’balla too. I was at the game… Buffalo was up 12 in the first half before Akron (specifically Ali) made a run.

Also, the line opened at Akron -1, and is currently Akron -2.5 at BetMGM

I think this is the game where either BVP or Roderick is going to have to score 17 or more points. One of these guys is going to have to step up tonight and have one of their better games of the season for us to win.

Big game, but really a bigger game for Akron than us. If we can start off with 2 road kills, that is a huge start. If we drop a road game, no big deal we can still get them back in the convo. Really excited for this one!

"no big deal", we lose tonight, there will be Armageddon on this site. At least one person will call for the benching of a starter, and talk of all that Boals needs to do.

I'm with you that some people are tough to please...but if you don't want to read criticism and opinions on how to improve, I would suggest staying away from message boards.

Yup - some people always think they know more than others and are better informed because of one experience or another.

On the plus side BVP has had a few great games at the JAR.
