When I see the games on TV, sometimes it seems easy to spot the townies in the crowd by certain "Appalachian" modes of dress, hair styles, etc. Back in the 1970's it seemed like there were lots of biker townies in and around Athens and southeast Ohio. Now, it's something else, right?

I am a townie. Maybe you can see me right behind the home bench in my Canada Goose coat, quite Appalachian indeed.

I aspire to be a "townie." And the more the better at both Peden and the Convo. They make the difference from a crowd being good and GREAT!

+1. The more the better. I could care less how folks are "distinguished" as seen on ESPN+.

Yup. Looks like OP got tired of judging people by their musical taste in his random rap thread so he's trying out judging them by their wardrobe.

We should rejoice that we're one a very select group of MAC teams that has has fans, yet here we are with a stupid town vs. gown thread. I'd say it belongs in Siberia but that suggests it has some off-topic value.

Would be interest in how you define "townie." I always thought it meant you had to be born here. After 25 years of residence I think the town local is a bit more appropriate.

For what it's worth, my daughter and granddaughters are townies (products of O'Bleness) and I've been here going on 42 years - local - but I'm not sure what any of us wears could place us as something specific.

I been here for 40+ years, maybe I'm a townie. This team has talent and gamers who finds a way to win. I would like to see the "o" zone get back to its passed performance. I can remember the 1970s days when I thought people would fall over the railing cheering.

Nah, it hasn't changed in 100 years. You saw me last night in my coonskin cap and overalls, right?

I love our mix of fans. Even in the “lower bowl” on the bench side there’s a good mix of all types of folks.

You might a a townie if….

I could probably pass for a townie since I hate to dress up. The last time I had a tie on was.... No idea. That long ago. Not even my Jerry Garcia original design tie.

I love that we have normal people in our best seats. It’s a refreshing change to most of the people who sit in the premium seats at high majors and pro sporting events who either don’t show up or don’t care.

Maybe I'll get a copy of violent gangsta rap's greatest hits ON VINYL to show how hip and cool I can be. And not from Amazon either...from a small obscure record shop where the hipster clerk burned the roof of his mouth because he ate his pizza.....before it was cool.

Here's a couple questions for you to help dig your hole deeper with your shovel.

How would you specifically define a "townie"?

How would you specifically define "Appalachian modes of dress, hair styles, etc."?

Per google images, this would be it...note the green fingernails.

If you don't like it, take that up with google.

My assumption proven - what a despicable and insulting post.

There are seats at Yankee Stadium behind the plate I have never seen filled.

In the game thread, there was something about the number of townies at the game had increased, so I asked started a thread about "how do you spot said townies at the game?" Then a couple of people looking for something to b!tch and whine about about decided b!tch and whine about the question. Then after pointing out a young lady with lime green nails from a google image (and NOT saying there was anything wrong with lime green nails... just pointing out she had them) a certain person had a PMS episode over it. Which was totally predictable. Sort of like the people who tried to pretend there is nothing objectionable about "music" that tells people to go out kill other people.
