No threat, BLSS. I did not get season tickets this basketball season specifically for the reasons others have stated in this thread.

And no need for a 300-plus word diatribe about how inconsequential that decision is. I understand the dynamics involved, as I'm sure SBH, NRBearcat and surely others do as well.

Edit: should have added no need for juvenile, sarcastic, add-nothing-of-value-to-the-discussion dribble from "Billy".
Yes, it's my 300 word posts calling for rationality that are weird here. Not the person who takes glee in the former President's unhappiness and just publicly accused somebody, by name, of assault.

Again, totally get it's a bummer we didn't have more Saturday games. But there's at least one person here who needs to pull themselves together.

I'm just curious, and expect I'll get flamed for this, but I keep returning to what I would do personally in these situations. If I was going to meet a bunch of buddies for a rare reunion, 50th birthday party, and a game day/time was changed I would ask for a half day/day off from my work. Yes, I realize this may not be an option for everyone, but some of you appear to be doing quite well, able to contribute significant dollars, can't you get some time off? I'm not saying this is ideal, or what you should have to do, and I get the frustration, but personally I would try and get some hours/a day off to do some of the things I love. I almost always take the Friday off of the MAC Tournament, I travel for concerts with my wife/children occasionally where I'll take a day, etc. I have plenty of time off that builds up and I don't use a lot of it, especially during covid, in fact I have to find days to take off so I don't lose days at the end of the FY. Don't others have this situation? What am I missing?

Grover, much easier to make adjustments when I was single, childless and had a job that nobody cared if I was there or not. Even though the first notice of this possibility was 3 weeks ago, it's still not feasible to make that type of change of plans now. It's a perfect storm of work, family, etc. that makes changing this impossible, which is part of the reason for my disappointment.

My 2nd post was more of an emotional vent. I get that TV drives a lot. But I still say that alienating even a small, devoted fan base is not the way to go. Changes in TV scheduling have impacted my ability to see football and basketball. Watching on TV is fine, but I'd rather be in Athens. As others have said, provide some balance/guard rails when these changes occur.

I'll still be at Gund Arena/the Q/The Rock, etc. for the tournament. Safe travels to those that are heading up.

Would love to hear the Athens hospitality industry take on this whole matter. Restaurants, bars, hotels, etc... have undoubtedly taken a hit with fewer Saturday football/basketball games.

It’s posts like these that make me wish duels were still a thing. Seriously. Does no one defend their honor anymore? Come in fells, be men and schedule this thing already. Maybe we can use a Susan Bargee timeout.

SBH needs to expand the “To” line of his emails. One AD or president can’t change any of this Friday night stuff.

Why bother to expand the "To" line when I can't get a response from our own athletic department?

As for the duel, it was planned for tomorrow night but we just flexed it to 2:30 this afternoon. Hope you can still make it.

I always tip extra in Athens on gamedays in an attempt to build-up the Ohio Bobcats-Industrial Complex.

I really do tip extra in Athens, but that's just because I look at the bill and it's 1/10 what I was expecting.

There might -- MIGHT -- be 3 teams in this 12 team conference that have enough ticket buying fans to advocate against flex scheduling in a future TV contract. Ohio, Toledo, and Akron. Oddly, those 3 teams have been the most successful of the last 10 years along with Buffalo, which sucks.

I honestly doubt our conference office had the competence and foresight to predict that successful teams with would be the consistent victim of flexing for television.

I truly believe our conference office lacks the humility to admit they made a bad deal that rewards teams that lack support.

This is true if you define the "reward" as unflexed Saturday home games. But a national TV game seems like a reward, too. In the scheme of things, it's hard for me to see the perspective that a Saturday home game is better for the program than playing in the conference's "game of the week" on national TV regularly.

Again, I get it's a bummer for fans who had planned to go. But feels an awful lot like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I’d sign a petition or join a letter campaign (to more than just OU people) to move games back to Saturday.
Hoops and football….

Petitions and letter campaigns aren't going to do it. You'd have to pony up a LOT of money to the ENTIRE conference and also somehow guarantee exposure so people can watch the games to get them moved back to Saturday.

Would you include Buffalo and Ball State in addition to those three?
