Do you know the source of the water? I've always had a taste for Athens County spring water. I've found that mine runoff promotes strong Iron Sulfide levels in the water and I am Iron deficient.
Weren't high levels of minerals, like iron sulfide, and other unidentified materials what were rumored to give Iron City Beer its "unique" flavor ? :-)

For what reason?

Lowering your mask to eat popcorn or drink water could potentially spread COVID.

It's simply not worth the risk.

But they're providing water, so that can't be the reason.

That's very disappointing to hear. How can Ohio University ensure the water is not contaminated with COVID?

It's been hermetically sealed in a mayonnaise jar on President Sherman's porch.

This is very reassuring. Great to see the University taking proactive measures to keep the community safe.

I understand they are going to use the purest water known to mankind -- Butchel Spring water from up in York Township. I know a lady who drinks this water regularly and she is now 101 years old and fit as fiddle and with mind that's sharp as a tack.  The source of this water is believed to be an underground lake. Sadly, for you The Optimist, it contains no acid mine runoff.

With no concession stands, do you think they will now allow you to bring in outside food/drink? I enjoy some popcorn while watching a game.
I seriously doubt it. I was on a conference call with Muskingum today and we have discontinued concessions too. The reasoning is that to consume food and beverage you have to lower your mask.

I think I read somewhere that osu is not allowing food to be brought into the schott.

Are we sure they just can’t find anyone to work the concession stands and this is a way to look like they are looking out for people’s health?

You have to pay people to continue to check bags while you loose revenue from lack of food sales. Maybe not a big deal today, but when other groups try abs play 4 games in a day, I bet tha his an issue.

A lot of people in this thread are acting like babies. Every health system in Ohio is overwhelmed right now past capacity, but heaven forbid you have to go two hours without popcorn. Grow up.

Go Bobcats.

If you’re accusing me of being a right-wing conspiracy theorist, I have two words for you.

Instead, I’m looking at this as a person who isn’t working right now because half my assembly line is out in protocols. Such a situation here would make for a convenient time to just get rid of concessions — an aspect of gameday they already struggle with— while Covid makes it hard to staff games.

Also, if a lot of the people who aren’t eating popcorn are instead wearing a cloth mask instead of an N95 or NH95, we’ve accomplished very little here other than public relations.

Either let people in the game and accept you’re going to spread Omicron or empty out the seats again. I’m fine with either, but stop half-assing this and trying to please everyone.

LOL, sensitive much? Not directed to you, as you are not the one who made the comment on this decision not being actually covid related.

However, I will say the decision to not sell food because people will lower their mask is absolutely stupid when you do not enforce the mask mandate in the first place!

I am sensitive.

My apologies on reacting in that way without engaging in a calmer way initially. Carry on.

If the administration really cared about the health of students, they'd ban soda pop in the dining halls and stop selling junk food in the on-campus markets to focus on healthier options.

We all (well at least some of us) know that won't happen because the "health mandate" banning concession stands has absolutely nothing to do with "health" at all.

It was free as usual in the Rohr Room - no other bevs or snacks though. Not sure about in the concourse or concession stands.

Per masks compliance looked to me to be well less than 50%.

My current plan is to troll until someone sues me then I countersue Jenny Hall-Jones as former Ohio dean of students. Then she files a cease and desist against me and then I frame it against my wall and retire

A little dose of reality for anyone still mourning fountain Pepsi and synthetic butter popcorn.

New record for COVID hospitalizations:

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-breaks-covid-19-hospi... /
Pretty much reflects our system "sheer number of infections caused by the Omicron variant could strain the hospital systems, some of which have already suspended elective procedures as they struggle to handle the surge of patients amid staff shortages." We have shut down all elective procedures ONCE AGAIN... can't get our regular patients in for regular diagnostic exams and getting a sprained ankle an X ray means sending them over to Radiology to sit for a few hours with the sick folks in the waiting area. OUr area of Indiana has low vaccination numbers and we regularly have 8 to 10 patients cancel daily as they are sick.

Our nurses in the OR are doing work in ICU and on the floors that they have not done since graduating nursing school. Their surgical skills have been honed to a high level for years but they are admitting they have not taken care of a patient in a bed for a decade or so and are not very comfy doing it.

I ventured down to Athens and went to the game. I would love to return but I am not sure it is such a great idea if I want to keep showing up to work and be able to get through a surgical schedule. Got to Jackie Os and gone before the crowd, stayed out of crowds and tried to keep my distance. Even stayed out of the bathrooms and missed the new hand dryers blowing COVID around. I enjoyed the visit and admit I thought about the proximity of folks while eating my popcorn. My epidemiology training weighing out distances and activity in front and behind me. I think this is a reasonable response. Athens is definitely more aware and masked than Lancaster, Columbus or other places we passed through going to and from.

I’m just hoping this wave has ended by the time Cleveland rolls around. Our schedule made it impossible to get to any regular season games this year, but I had Cleveland circled on the calendar.
