Ohio Net: 113

Abilene Christian Net: 123

Combined record against Quad 4 opponents 30-2

Looks like a couple doppelganger teams should be a good game.

Abilene has 125,000 residents. But it’s just the 27th-largest city in Texas.

They committed 14 turnovers against Troy and seem to also have a dominant defense with 13 steals. They shot 44% from the field and 35% from three. If we can keep up our strong defense and find some offense - We have a chance to make it back to the CBI semis for the first time since 2016.

Their opponents average 21.4 turnovers a game! They are able to steal the ball without committing more fouls than the opposition.

Going to need to make shots, rebound and take care of the basketball to win.

This is a toss-up 50/50 game for sure IMO.

They rank first in the nation in turnovers forced and turnover margin, but that is a stat Ohio usually does pretty well with. Ohio is 22nd nationally in turnover rate (not turning it over), 49th at opponent's turnover rate (forcing turnovers) and 13th at turnover margin.

Sears needs to not try to do everything against Abilene Christian. They have the guards to force us into turnovers. We need to take advantage of Carter and BVP in the post and not get fancy here.

I'll bet, like me, you learned this amazing insider fact watching the Wisconsin-Iowa State game yesterday. One astute announcer kept telling us that in order to win Wisconsin needed to score points. I was just totally shocked at this revelation. It's to garner insights like this that you watch the top-level commentators hired by CBS and its affiliated cable channels for the Big Dance.

Battle between two teams that pulled big upsets in the first round of last year's NCAA Tourney (Ohio beat UVA and ACU knocked off Texas) then had reality slap them in the face in the second round (Ohio by 17 pts to Creighton and ACU by 20 to UCLA).

Two of the Top 4 seeds have now lost in this Tourney (Drake, Stephen F. Austin)

One game at a time.

Still that makes it statistically better for other teams to win the tournament when the ONE Seed goes down.

Only if Drake or even SFA could have scored more points then they most likely wouldn't be going home.

Football is a game of inches and basketball is a game of points (technically baskets).

I hope everyone is dumber after reading this post.

I was going to say something about the only reason they have 125K is because once you're there, you're there. But I was thinking of Amarillo, which is on remote planet Hoth when it comes to Texas standards.

Excellent point! sad

And they can only score the ball if they have the right mind set.

Anything west of San Antonio may as well be on Mars.

Remind me again why we are playing in this minor-league tournament?

Nothing to gain.

Zero.

We're a bad 3-point shooting team who likes to chuck threes.

Of course I am. Never said I wouldn't. I said it's stupid to play in this thing.
