Would love to see Boals figure out a new substitution pattern. Simmons and Breath sharing the 40 minutes at the 5 and Hadaway and Kuany sharing the 40 minutes at the 4 leaves too few minutes for Kuany to get a feel for the game. With inconsistent production from Simmons/Breath combo, why not try Hadaway and Kuany on the court together? Next 3 games should provide that opportunity and then go from there based on the results.


On another note, has Boals been assessed a T this season? I know he has had some ill-timed Ts over the years but I can't recall him being assessed one this year. Meanwhile, Hadaway, Simmons and Kuany have each been called for a T in the last couple of games. This goes to the lack of discipline that has been brought up by others in this thread.

I'm pretty baffled that we haven't seen any minutes with Simmons and Breath together with Hadaway at the 3.

I get the spacing concerns, but we shoot 27% from three as a team. There are spacing issues regardless. And Hadaway is using a lot of his possessions facing up and taking tons of threes as is. He's playing like a 3, for better or worse, so why not see how the Pavs/Kelly/Hadaway/Simmons/Breath group looks?

My sense of it is that Boals is just too inflexible offensively and he'd need to implement some new sets and principles to adjust to a different personnel mix. Instead, we'll spend the next month endlessly trying to make some Kelly/Elliott/Connors/Shelton minutes combo work.

I don’t think we’ve seen Simmons/Breath together once — even with 3 guards. One is always subbed for the other.

That's right. No minutes with the two of them.

I guess you always need the floor spacing ability of Hadaway who shoots 27% from three and still somehow takes 6.2 per 40.

This team will rise or fall with Hadaway. If he continues to play with his head up his *ss, we'll be a barely 500 team in MAC play. I'm guessing it's no secret - as shown by BG - that if you get physical with him he'll lose composure.
