Solid benchmark game to start MAC play and get a better idea of where we're at.

Might just make the trip to see another chapter of the Sam Towns homecoming.

CFP + winter break, team is going to have to create their own energy for this one.

Coach B said in the post-game last night that they will get beat Saturday playing like they did vs OWU. He's right. There were stretches of poor defense vs an out-manned opponent. Similar to that game a few years ago vs Otterbein who had better talent IIRC than OWU had last night.

I think BG is slipping under the radar a tad and they're gonna be a tough out come March. They played a pretty tough non-conference schedule and faired a lot better than Ohio did.

W over Kansas State
L to Davidson by 4 (currently 8-2 in a stacked A-10)
L to William & Mary by 8 (currently 8-3, in the top 4 of the CAA)
L to Utah Valley by 11 (currently 8-3, in the top 2 of the WAC)

You could say those losses to William & Mary and Utah Valley are bad right now, but we'll see how bad they really are later in the year.

BG is just a bad matchup for us at the guards and wings. We "should" be able to punish them inside with Simmons, Hadaway and Breath because out of all their size, Towns is leading them in rebounds. The other two bigs for BG, Wol and Glover, only average 20 minutes per game. Wol is more of an AJ Clayton type, wanting to stay outside and shoot threes (2nd most attempts on the team). I'm not sure why Glover doesn't get more minutes, because he's averaging almost a double-double per 40 minutes, but I'm guessing he and Wol split time off the bench and Wol's 3pt shooting is more valuable.

W&M was picked to finish 4th in the CAA and Utah Valley was picked to finish 2nd in the WAC. Both are far from bad losses. These are the types of opponents we (and all MAC schools) should be scheduling year in and year out.

BG is going to be tough. This could be a breakthrough year for Simon.

On a different note, is this the first MAC opening game in how many years that the Bobcats are without injury and thus at full strength?

Are you familiar with the concept of "jinxing?" Man, you cannot say stuff like that out loud!

Piss poor.

Missed free throws.

Ugly 3 point attempts.

Kuany T to kill momentum even though ref never should have called it.

BG runs offense and we fire up off balanced 3’s.

First half was as ugly as it gets.

Are we a top 6 team in the MAC?

IF BG is this much better than us, and Akron, UMass, and Kent State are better than us, it means we may well be 6th or 7th depending what you think of Miami and Buffalo.

Not great.

Leon, it’s just typical Ohio basketball this year. Can’t shoot field goals, can’t shoot free throws, can’t rebound, and can’t defend anything.

A few obscenely bad sequences by Sheldon -- clanks a three, fails to get back on D, then comes down and throws ball out of bounds. Oh, and yes, misses his only FT. Airballs a three with no one within six feet. I assume Boals just tells him, "Go do whatever it is you do."

SBH saw the same thing…I hate to single players out but we just need to move on from him. Elliot or Conners please.
We haven’t made a shot because we have no offense. Now it’s just one guy dribble and four guys watch. Maybe it’s time for a new basketball coach also.

Isn't that the "offense" our guys officially run?

Does it have a name? You know, like Princeton runs the motion offense and Phil Jackson ran the triangle offense...what exactly is it Boals runs?

I feel like this is going to be a frustrating, roller coaster, season.

We’ll probably get 1-2 wins at home against top MAC teams as glimmers of hope. However, I can do see us finishing below .500 in league play in that same scenario.

Bowling Green has the kind of players I’d like to see us have. While we are a bit more athletic this year we just do not seem to have good basketball IQ. We just make a lot of dumb, defensive and offensive decisions. That includes taking bad shots and playing bad switching defense.

Sam Towns has a better night than Hadaway and Simmons together. Still think Boals gave up too soon.
