Some extra game experience for the young guys makes these tournaments worth it. Not unreasonable at all to think we could win this thing, even though we haven't looked great lately.

Why on multiple threads do people seem to think/believe this is a bench game, and you are going to play differently than you have other games?

Because the perceived value to many is not a fairly meaningless CBI trophy. The thought is if you're doing these lesser tournaments the real value is getting a head start on next year by extending practice and getting younger guys PT.

Same could be said for a Bowl game ;-)

I agree with Billy. I get some of you want to see this as a preseason game for next year but Boals will put the guys out there he feels gives us the best chance to win.

Has the CollegeInsider tournament field not been announced? I was curious which MAC teams went but I can't find anything.

It's no longer the CIT, its now called "The Basketball Classic". And yes, teams are announced.

No MAC teams, but several teams with losing records.

Kent got shafted from any post season tournament. Probably due to the video controversy? Or did they decline invitations?

Surprised they accepted the TBC invitation. FGCU and Southern Utah only other 20 win teams in the tournament. Is there home court advantage in TBC?

Can we play Wagner in the first round and start the "We helped lay the foundation at Bryant" chant?

No? Too soon?
LOL. While the website HappeningHoops.com is just a speculation site, I agree if we were to accept this I would recommend we'd play the younger guys. Would hate to see someone like Sears / M Brown get injured over a meaningless NCAA rejects tournament. BUT, count me in for more basketball and maybe a playoff game in the Convo!!!!!!
You nailed it cellis. Now it’s the CBI in Daytona.
Wish they still did the home arena advantage to higher seeded teams.

I see no reason why to risk injury to a returning player for next season just to post more quad 4 wins and hang a banner that nobody cares about.

Call it a season...get ready to hit the recruiting trail and find at least one stud in the portal for 2022-2023.

I know he's not a returning player, but Carter injury makes my point. We have zero business playing in this tournament.

Ya think we can just forefit and get a partial refund? Or maybe players should start holding out like you they do in football if they play in a Bowl game and not the College Football Playoffs

Why not hold out? Might as well. If we're paying players and treating them like 1 year rentals via the portal anyway - then might as well complete the trifecta and just start making business decisions. If it isn't the NCAA tourney and you have aspirations of playing in NBA, G-League, oversees, or returning next season - maybe sitting out is meaningless games is exactly the correct answer.

What then determines what a meaningless game is? Maybe kids should hold out of practice, that’s where you have the highest chance of injury.

Allen Iverson says hold my beer. Been there, done that.

To be honest if players thought they weren't getting better in practice (they are) or that taking that stance would ruin their reputation with current coaches and prospective future organizations (it would), then they just MIGHT do this.
