I hope we get a PG from the portal and not have to rely on Sheldon / Estis. I'm actually a person that thinks if they work out and are very good out of the gate (which I'm not expecting to happen) It's actually a good problem to have.
I think it's pretty safe to say we're getting a PG in the portal... Now the quality of said player is still a variable at this point.

No way that scholly will go unused.

Was wondering the same thing. Maybe she's in the transfer portal as well! ;-)

What an obscure story Frazier has been. From joining the team in the middle of the season, not getting any minutes, to transferring after the starting PG leaves.

Strange.

Why did Boals bring him in to begin with? Did he just assume that he could play because he was rostered at UD?

One of our insiders must know...

You need guys for your starters to practice against. With Frazier you have a former D1 player on campus and is open to joining the program. Why wouldn't you give the guy a shot? It effected the team negatively--NADA.

My brother went to college from 63-67. The freshman coach spotted him and for two years he attended practices of his Alma Mater. There are no pictures of him. He never got into a game or traveled with the team yet he was at practice everyday. A 6'3" strong/tough guy who could jump and shoot is a pretty good guy to practice against. His mates even made it deep into the NCAA one of those two years.

So thanks Frazier, perhaps you helped the program by coming to practice this past season! Best wishes. If you don't get an offer somewhere, come on back, what's better than being a Bobcat!

Its no longer 1967 so I would hope Boals is not in the business of rostering players with practice squad type of skill.

And that's not a knock on Frazier or your brother but I would hope the gap in skill level of "practice" players and the starting 5 isn't that wide.

I wish Boals would've played Frazier, I'm not a fan of taking a transfer and not playing them.

Actually you giving opinions and information is the positive contributions you make. What people don't like is the judgment/ridicule of others' opinion & information.

I do not understand your logic. Boals had his team. McDay leaves. There is a guy on campus that has game. Let him play intramurals or see if he can help us. Why is having someone like that come out not a smart thing to do under the circumstances.

I must be missing something, but I'm surprised OU could not find a place for a 6'5' G who played at UD and averaged 22 points / 7 rebounds / 4 assists / 2 blocks / 2 steals and was named the Division II player of the year.

Especially when OU is losing 95% of their scoring.

"Played" at Dayton is a stretch. Maybe he just loves basketball and wanted to go to a place that gave him the best chance to see the floor. Ohio obviously wasn't it.

Somehow this doesn't surprise me. Given his background I truly expected him to make a major contribution during this past season, once he worked out the rust from his time sitting out. However, the most he ever saw was a few minutes in garbage time. But, on the other hand, maybe his girlfriend transferred to John Carroll after she entered the DistaffTransfer Portal.

With our extremely limited bench, BRod’s struggles and McDay’s departure gave Luke a gift wrapped opportunity to see oodles of floor time. That he couldn’t seize that opportunity is not on Boals not being able to “find” a place for him. Hopefully he will succeed at John Carroll as I certainly wish him no I’ll will. Sorry OHIO didn’t work out for him.

In fairness, JB ran a 6 man rotation. Sam Towns barely saw the floor. So to expect a kid who came in off the street to get up and start running with people who may get NBA looks (Sears) and two of the most seasoned players in the country (JC, BVP) in the late push of their season is a lot to ask of anyone.

Like you mentioned, the opportunity was there... and it didn't work out, but just questioning the quick move.

Wish him well, John Carroll could be a fun watch in the future.

Have my fingers crossed for this recruiting class and they all stay committed.

Didn't he have a major surgery at some point after high school? Like, not just a ligament but something greater?

I hope DIII and playing close to home works out great for him. I think a year in the weight room could have made him a solid mid-major player (he seemed to have the skills). Hopefully he'll kill it a JCU.

His teammate at Lake Catholic, Luka Eller, recently transferred from Fiami back home home and is going to play at John Carroll.

The article mentions that they have 4 D-1 transfers coming in. OAC is a tough conference though so they should be much better but still might not be enough to overcome Marietta and/or Mount Union.
