Well, with all players that join the team, I always hope for the best. Who knows what the real scoop is on this and many other things relating to Ohio Bobcats basketball. Coach plays things close to the vest which is no doubt the best way for the team. But it is frustrating for the fans….

Good luck Luke!

Go Bobcats!

I wondered how this would end for Frazier and the Bobcats. He came on in January during our stretch run. I have to think that if he was an impact player he would have gotten some run going into March but he didn't. I am guessing this signals that a transfer PG is on his way to Athens soon? Or does it mean Estis has climbed over Frazier already?

I'm seeing a lot of chatter on the board from some folks who think Estis is getting a serious run this upcoming season. How is that realistically possible? Not saying he won't be a player down the road, but I have a hard time believing this staff believes Estis, who is a preferred walk-on, will make a significant contribution in year one. In fact, if he does, I would say we are in for some serious issues next season. It means we didn't find the right guy in the portal. And for the record, I really do like the PG's at New Hampshire and Coastal Carolina.

Agree Leon. Ben Estis is a preferred walk-on. he may contribute at some point but he is not the solution. Our pg is yet to be signed.

The PG (Banks) from St Peters has joined the portal-go-round.

11ppg / 37% from three / 86% at the line - would have 2 seasons left (?)

Had 27 vs UK and 14 vs Purdue... this is who Boals should pursue. Hands down.

👆….what he said
Estis is NOT going to be our point guard this year.
I don’t know where the thought that he would be comes from ?
I am not hating on him but he is a legacy walk on probably here for the Sports Ad program?
I won’t dismiss the possibility of him playing consequential minutes sometime in the future but I certainly
Wouldn’t bet on it

I Never stated Estis would get run -- my comment was saying that Frazier leaving could be the result of an open scholly going to Estis over Frazier at some point.

I don’t think that’s the type of PG Boals is going for. Just looking at his lack of APG. If there’s any truth to Carter Whitt, he’s a true facilitator. Both Blondeau and Dibba offer more upside in that category statistically speaking and that’s really more of what this team needs.

Whitt committed to Furman.

...

I'm completely lost on the scholarship count. Fraizer wasn't on scholarship this year but the expectation was that he would be next year, so now we have an additional spot?

Oh, I know. I’m referencing his style of play to be aligned with what Boals seems to be targeting.

Ahh, that makes sense. I agree with that assessment. I think Roderick, Clayton and Wiznitzer will thrive with a true distributor at PG.

The fact that Frazier couldn’t get significant floor time with the well documented BRod struggles and no McDay spoke volumes. Surprised it took him this long to portal.Wish him well in his future endeavors.

What an obscure story Frazier has been. From joining the team in the middle of the season, not getting any minutes, to transferring after the starting PG leaves.

Strange.

Why did Boals bring him in to begin with? Did he just assume that he could play because he was rostered at UD?

One of our insiders must know...

I hope we get a PG from the portal and not have to rely on Sheldon / Estis. I'm actually a person that thinks if they work out and are very good out of the gate (which I'm not expecting to happen) It's actually a good problem to have.

I have to wonder if this is driven by Frazier being told he won't be getting a scholarship. The timing is strange otherwise.

Andrew didn’t Frazier have the opportunity to “earn” a scholarship. With the short bench Boals had this past year Luke didn’t seem to be in the mix to help fill the void. IF Frazier wasn’t promised a scholarship when he joined the roster in January maybe Boals was only “kicking” the tires on him. Really do wish Luke success no matter where he lands next.

I can't help but laugh at the number of BA posters who were obsessed with getting Frazier...and look what happened or didn't happen. LOL

Well, I did have high hopes for sure…. As for obsessed, I prefer to refer to it as unbridled curiosity. Besides, isn’t fan a shortened form of fanatic?

I do think the theory that a scholly wasn’t available may be a possibility.

Also, I wonder with all our players and not just Luke, how much emphasis is placed on coming to summer sessions? Probably a question for another thread…

Go Bobcats!

I know, I'm just joking around. I remember one thread where people were speculating that he was in a team photo or practice, something to that effect LOL.

I had some high hopes as well. Sucks it didn't work out.

Wishing him the best.
