That is how I read it too.  However, DJ has a long way to go until he overtakes Frankie B.  #54 is the only jersey to hang in the rafters right now.  (Now that meets the definition of a while.)

I guess you don't go to many games do you?  Either that or you do not look up!  Because Dave Jamerson hangs off the Catwalk

But isnt Baumholtz the only "retired" number? I thought Jamerson and Luckett's names are up there, but their numbers aren't officially retired. Im not sure though, I could be wrong. I thought I read that somewhere

And when I was in the Convo last week, Luckett's had disappeared.

2002 at UNC.  I seemed to remember it being totally dominated by Brandon Hunter, but according to the box score he only had 20 (Esterkamp had 23!).  But still I remember it being B-Hunt that carried us through to victory in that game.

WAAAYYY too early to declare him the best ever.  Folks are a little to caught up in the night (sort of like the thread a few weeks ago declaring he will leave early for the draft - that's not going to happen).  Certainly has the makings to be at or near the top in the end - especially if you look at it from the old "pound for pound, inch for inch" perspective.

Watching that Tillman video makes me really miss him.  Man oh man why couldn't we have Tillman & Leon play at the same time as DJ, Nick, & Tommy?!  Seems like we always have either the frontcourt or the backcourt, not both.  Kind of like the game of golf.

I go to a basketball game in the Convo every now and then (18-20 times/year).  I meant retired numbers.  I never understood why they would hang a number, but not retire it.

That game was dominated by Leon.  It was a homecoming game for him and he showed up in full force.

Limited numbers.  NCAA only allows digits 0-5 to be used.

Hunter, Flomo, Esterkamp, Sonny, Jaivon Harris, Sanderson, .....How the heck did this team not make the NCAA touney?

Flomo and Hunter just went off that game.  Fun to be there.

That group of talent would just absolutely destroy the MAC right now (well, if they played with the right attitude that is.)

Crew fans among us will understand the following analogy: whenever I attend a game with my 11-year-old daughter I compare DJ's game to that of Guillermo Barros Schelleto. She's more of a soccer player/fan than basketball and knows that this means DJ has the ability to see things before they develop and put himself or teammates in positions where they can score.

Note: I'm trying to teach her the superstitions of sports. She attended the Delaware, Valpo and TA&MCC games (all wins) with me but missed the Oakland game (loss). I tried to point this out to her last Saturday morning but she insisted on not joining me for the Marshall game. I'm working on this with another home game approaching.

Note: We're both heartbroken to see the Crew dump Guillermo. Like DJ, he was a joy to watch live.

That still allows for about 36 different jersey numbers to be used...So we have to retire about 20 before we start getting in trouble.  At our current rate of about 1 per every 100 years, that day will come in about year 4000.

cc cat, sbh: any idea who'd be crazy enough to go up onto the catwalk and steal such a thing? Could it be the same fan cc cat mentioned recently who went on the team bus less than 12 hours after a 1982 loss to berate all the players but John Devereaux?

After watching that clip two things stand out - our starting guards were Zach Kiewkow and Jason Crawford and Patrick Flomo was the best interior defensive presence we've had in at least 31 years.

Nope....Eddie Hicks was by far.  Always shut down Palombizzio and Ron Harper.

I thought about posting the same thing as OldKatz and cc, especially considering that Eddie is one of Swank's favorite all-time Bobcat.

Perhaps Swank considers Hicks more of a shutdown defensive player on the perimeter, Flomo on the inside?

Exactly.  Eddie Hicks could shut down anyone but Flomo was by far the best shot blocker in the last 30 years.  They were two completely different types of players each excelled at what he did best.

I should have amended my original statement, I think DJ is the best PG to ever play at Ohio. I've been pretty consistent about that. I never had time to go back and edit my original post for clarity after the Illinois State game.

Gary is still the best overall, but I do think DJ can overtake him, especially with another NCAA Tourney bid and subsequent win, plus continued strengthening in all areas of his game.

"Best to ever wear the uniform" is needlessly hyperbolic, but consider the source.

For my money, John Devereaux is the best to ever wear the green and white. He stayed for four years, helped lead the team to a first-round NCAA tournament win, hit a driving jumper to win a MAC championship on the road when the tournament was played at on-campus sites (eat it BGSU) and was drafted into the NBA. While he lived in Athens, he was never mentioned in association with any courtroom proceedings as far as I know, and he was a totally cool guy as a guest instructor at Danny Nee's basketball camp in Athens (made a good impression on an 11-year-old).

D.J. is better than Dink Whitaker and Kirk Lehman and is on par right now with Robert Tatum, which is a high compliment in my estimation. He'll likely end up as the best guard in Ohio basketball history.

Just want to say that I never saw Steve Skaggs, Tim Joyce, Walter Luckett or Spindle Graves play the game, and I mean no disrespect to them or Gary Trent or Snoopy Graham or Victor Alexander or Leon Williams for that matter.
