We all knew we lacked size and length (at least I did) going into the season. We also knew we had lots of new pieces to integrate in addition to finding those 1/2 guys to be "the guy".

To date all issues are still true, though I'd add we're still not a very good shooting team which is worrisome. If you aren't going to dominate inside you better be able to knock down 3s. Right now we do neither well.

I'm fine with Hunter starting even if he's not scoring or knocking down shots as long as he's dishing assists, running the O and not turning it over. We can't have BOTH transfer guards shooting this bad though. Baker's spot is on the hot seat. AJ Brown is bigger and (to date) better and he's younger. BRod is an option too though I feel he looks more comfortable coming in off the bench. If Hunter doesn't start getting assists then we might need to consider Miles at the point.

A starting 5 of:

PG: Miles Brown 6'1
SG: AJ Brown 6'4
SF: Ben Roderick 6'5
PF: AJ Clayton 6'7
C: Dwight Wilson III 6'8

Would give us some much needed size.

At half, our starting three guards have 6 points! Marshall starting three guards have 30 points! Ball game!
Our 3 starting guards had 8 for the game on a combined 3 of 19 shooting (1/12 from 3). Listened to game on 3.5-hour ride home from Detroit. Can't tell you how many times I heard OUr announcer say "(insert Bobcat player's name) from 3. . . off the back of the rim."

My son, who was with me at Ford Field today and in the Convo at last year's Ohio/Marshall matchup, mentioned how bad we made Marshall look last year and how the opposite was true this year.

Like the idea of starting AJ Brown. I'm really high on this young man!

This years team is light years better than last year. As much as I liked Darius George, Mikel Beyers and David Early as players the trio of Jacob Connors (6'9 Freshman), Micah Handlogten (7'1 Freshman) and Wyatt Fricks (6'9 RS Freshman, hurt in 1st game last year and didn't play anymore) is much better in scoring and 1000% better defending.

With 7'1 Handlogten in the paint and him getting help side defense from the Weak side with OAK, Curfman, Connors or Fricks going down low and trying to attack the inside has been proven to be difficult for anyone.

Marshall doesn't have a player on the roster under 6'3.

The starting line up:
SG Kamdyn Curfman 6'3
SG Taevion Kinsey 6'5
PG Andrew Taylor 6'3
PF Obinna Anochili-Killen 6'8
PF/C Micah Handlogten 7'1

Much improved Marshall team v. an Ohio team missing BVP and Sears (both left via portal). Handlogten didn't get many offers out of high school (dad played in the MAC - WMU). Conner was offered by Ohio out of Kettering Alter.

Tall lineups like Marshall's can only cause mismatch problem v. a team starting 3 6-1 guards.

Didn’t get to watch the game. Just looking at the box score - tough to win any game with that type of shooting from the guards. 15 points from Wiz is impressive, especially against a solid opponent. AJB’s minutes surpassed Baker’s in this game, so as others have pointed out, hopefully that swap is made by the next.

It just doesn’t seem like the current starting lineup is the right one after eight games.

My first thought was, I wonder if that's Ben's son? He was really good at WMU. Aaaaand now I feel old.

Also, this is why you don't start 3 6'1 guys. Unless they're all knocking down 40% from 3 (and Santa's watch says they aren't) it's a recipe for disaster.

I also did not get to watch. A 29-9 start in which we could not shoot at all seems to be the story in this one. Shooting is a problem just as we knew. Miles' hot streak came crashing down. Hunter & Baker just aren't going to be reliable outside scoring threats for us...we've gotta let the kid play. Was glad to see he logged 24 minutes, same as Hunter and more than Baker.

Wiz 6 for 7 from the field and 3 for 3 at the line, would you look at that.

They did not shoot the ball well either. Protecting the ball better and rebounded a little better.
