I HATE the way we played tonight...but I like the idea of tuning up Tuesday against Toledo and keeping things moving.  Fatigue doesn't really concern me, but I'm not the one playing 4 games in 5 days.  Just couldn't hit the long ball tonight.  Losing to Miami twice in a year makes me want to punch something.

We are not guaranteed to be playing Toledo.  It all depends on the outcome of the Buffalo/Bowling Green game whether we get the #5 or #6 seed.

That's not correct.  We have now clinched at least the 5th seed.  We will win the tie-breaker for 5th regardless of the outcome of Buffalo-BG, due to the fact we swept Akron.

Did some math...I guess we have 3-1 vs 2-2 for Buffalo and 1-3 for Akron even if Buffalo wins.

I guess I was thinking of Ball U, rather than Buffalo.

Should have made this a moot point tonight, but oh well.

Pomeroy rates Miami as the sixth-luckiest team in the nation.

A downfall's a-comin'.

Interestingly, which, of course, I don't mean at all, statistics are among the least reliable indicators possible.

Beside that I just made that up, statistics aren't of much value it would seem to me, given that a high percentage of games are actually decided by activity on the floor.  Which is an excellent statistic.

Revel in your ignorance.  Just don't drag me down to your stupidity.

Nice reasoned response.

I concede.  It's all about stats and your prediction about how we were likely to fare at redhawk on Friday was spot on.

Just curious--why are you suddenly in attack mode?

Let's tone down the personal attacks, people.  I guess we're like a big, extended family...we get on each other's nerves sometimes.  But we're on the same side.

Excellent points, especially the one I put in bold.

Suddenly?  You really don't have a clue as to why I might be upset at what you've said today?  Figure it out.

The way I see it, I either explode or walk away and calm down.  I'm going to walk away.  See everyone later.

So after Jeff and OCF make points you still need to attack. Monroe is Monroe. Grow up!

For someone who seemingly has never set foot on the court you sure seem to know-it-all.

Will you ever graduate?

Dragon--I think you're upset because I posted something like this:  "I put last night's loss on Dragon because he was so sure that his stats pointed to a sure W for us.'  I don't know how you could miss my kidding around.  Do you really think that I think that your prediction had anything to do with the outcome of the game?  And if I don't put the same faith into stats that you do, is that some sort of criminal offense on my part?

I can't imagine that you could read what I said and get anything but the idea that I was trying to gently kid you.  Plus, if you'd fire back with the wit and and pointed wording that you're capable of, well, that I'd admire.  A broadside, pure attack just wasn't called for.

I have to admit to being dumbfounded by the loss as well. We were on quite the hot streak and I just didn't see Miami being able to stop us. Obviously, they brought their A game and we did not.

This whole stats vs intangibles thing is fun to think about though. Miami is #6 in the country in Pomeroy's luck rankings which is handy for them now... So, I got to thinking, maybe it's that Charlie Coles simply knows how to win games that others don't in ways that are not measurable statistically.  So I looked back a few years to see if that characteristic was evident. Nope. In the three years previous to this year they ranged anywhere from the mid 200's to a best of 171 two years ago.  So, it's not the coaching that's driving it... Maybe it's just good old fashioned luck. ;)

Regardless of luck, I do think we are turning it on as a team. As long as our bigs play with fire, we are in this thing...

Go Bobcats!

My thing with this game is that we didn't look bad, shots just weren't falling for the most part.  It happens.  Better this game than the next.

Now lets slap Toledo like a high school JV club, and get to Cleveland for a winnable game against Ball State.  I've got my hotel.
