For my listening pleasure tomorrow night - what match-up is most advantageous for us (looks like DJ takes on a freshman).  What match-up will give us problems -- acknowledging that it is not always man to man.  thanks

I think you must be referring to Abreu. He'll probably be on D.J. when he's in, but he plays only about 20 minutes again and most recently he's been off the bench. A senior, Darryl Roberts, will probably be on D.J. the rest of the game.

Obviously, Akron has a big front line with Marshall (7-0) and Cvetinovic (6-8), as well as Bardo (6-10), McKnight (6-6) and Diggs (6-6) off the bench. So we definitely don't have a size advantage, but I think we have a quickness advantage against most of those guys with Washington and Baltic. We've seen a lot more of Baltic catching at the free throw line and making a move to the hoop. I think that's something that could work against the Zips.

What worked so well for us last time was penetration getting open 3-pointers. I'm sure Akron will try to avoid that again, to some extent, but then again, to a point I'm sure they won't be counting on us being quite that hot from the outside. Akron is a really good defensive team. It's hard to find advantages. Maybe the only issue is they foul quite a bit.

I think Baltic is key.  We beat them last time through insane 3-point shooting, but can't depend on that every game.  Baltic will have his hands full against their center Marshall, who specializes in blocking shots.  If Ivo can stay out of foul trouble and score 14 points or more, I like our chances.

Also think DJ needs to play within his capabilities and just run the offense like he did last time (and did in the first half against Kent).

Akron's McKnight typically plays well at Ohio because of past recruiting issues (Tim O'Shea).  Need to keep him from getting hot.

Also of note, Akron's seven-game win streak has included just two away games, at Toledo and at BG, so this stretch of games has been favorable to the Zips. I'm sure this will be the toughest environment they've played in for quite a while.

Limit Cvetinovic and don't let McNees or McClanahan kill us with 3 pointers, we win by 8-12.

In the Kent game, we hit our FT's and DJ's passing was on point.  We're going to need those same two things tonight vs Akron.  It's likely going to be a physical game, so foul trouble and FT shooting will be key.

In any big game, you need your big players to step up.  Gotta get this one tonight, I hope the seats are packed and it creates an advantage for the Bobcats.

We have to guard the perimeter and limit the open 3's, Akron leads the MAC in 3 pointers made, Rebounding will be another key factor, limit Akron to 1 shot, Rebound and get up and down the floor, Ohio needs to dictate the pace and wear Akron down, If Ohio control the game and come out and punch Zippy right in the mouth, we will win by double digits.

Key will be the number of times McNees runs his fingers through his hair. He averages 17.6 brushes per win but only 12.5 per loss. Maybe the O-Zone can keep a running count, similar to baseball fans putting up "K"s for each strike out.

I can't tell whether he's mocking us or Mcnees. Perhaps both?

The Zips lead the MAC in three pointers attempted by a wide margin.  In the 14 conference games they have 60 more three point attempts than we do. Think about that.

Koch brothers paying you to post this?

Got 30  minutes/day for lunch, which I sometimes use to check out this board.

What a start!  40-22!  GO OHIO

Akron will make a run sometime though.  When it comes, we just need to answer and this game will be all GREEN AND WHITE!

Any scoring stats for the game?  I'm stranded up in Chillicothe because I couldn't skip class.

15:43 to play. We're on a 34-6 run. DJ with 14, Ivo with 10, Keely with 8. No 'kron players in double digits.

I guess the match-up we wanted was our hands around their throats.

Great all around effort to beat Akron's arse.  Great game by DJ.  Ohio needs to keep the bigs on the floor, only downside from tonight.  Reggie Keely had another nice night.  On to Miami on Friday night.

Anyone at the game know if Tommy shook off the ankle injury at the end of the game.  he appeared to still be hobbling on the internet feed.

Hmm, didn't notice.  I did really enjoy his Rodman impression.  Tommy Freeman was grabbing some solid boards.

After dining with son Ben (OU '96) and his family here in Eugene, I plopped down in front of the TV and turned on ESPN to see who might be playing tonight.  Within seconds the Ohio-Akron final score appeared on the crawler.  My reaction?  "Whooo Hooo!"

Looks like it was a resounding win in front of a good Tuesday night crowd.

Outstanding performance tonight.  Our intensity level was way above Akron's.  Offensive rebounding, good passing, we had it going tonight.  Good defense most of the time.  Congratulations!

Wow.  What a phenomenal night.  Cooper was out of his mind, Ivo, Reggie, and DeVaughn all put in good efforts (I could tell DeVaughn was frustrated with the fouls on senior night -- but certainly got sent out with style), Tunji got 4 points and a rebound in about a minute.

Still waiting for my Cooper triple-double.  I said early his Freshman year he'd get one, and I thought tonight just might have been it midway through.  He just couldn't miss tonight!

Great crowd, engaged throughout.  Even a few AK-Rowdies in the house -- I do enjoy opposing students traveling - though I wonder if we'll see them again soon after that game.

This just completely blew me away.  We play Akron, I expect 40 or more minutes of tough, close basketball with lots of ties and lead changes.  Even after the game in the JAR, I absolutely didn't expect it to look so easy.

Watch the highlights on ohiobobcats.com.  The passing tonight was great.  The ball moved almost effortlessly.

Box score might be one of the prettiest I've seen.  Just total domination.  We grabbed 88.9% of our misses and 41.7% of theirs.  Doubled them up on assists, only turned it over 11 times, shot well... Just a great, great night on all fronts.

If indeed that was my last game as a student in the Convo, I can't say I'm anything but tickled.
