i'm with those that feel uneasy about this game,  you can almost  predict how this team will play just based on the level of disrespect they feel they've gotten. The best/worst thing about this team is how they rise up to a challenge. The good news is that if we make it to the finals it will probably be either crArkron or Fiami, two teams the Cats will get up for. But its a long ways to saturday.

I'm trying to avoid flashbacks to my senior year when we were a 5-seed and lost in the convo to a horrendous Central Michigan squad led by C-Webb's little brother.

How well I remember that...that was perhaps the ultimate debacle for Ohio basketball.  I remember Brandon Hunter didn't have much of a game at all.

After the game, Central coach Jay Smith commented that he knew his team had a chance because some of Ohio's players (I think he called out Sonny Johnson) were clowning around before the game, taking funny pictures, etc.

That will NOT happen with this team vs. Toledo.  They will come to play.

Jeff--You ought to be very careful with your language here.  Someone said basically the same thing after the game and was suspended from this board for the better part of a year.  It was the only suspension ever, despite much more egregious posts since then.  And it was summary--cowardly action taken with no chance for the person in question to respond.  Really, really weak.

We will beat Toledo.  No doubt.

Toledo wasn't very good to begin with and they are down to five scholarship players. They've lost 13 in a row. One of my friends who is a big Toledo fan told me "If you guys don't beat us by 500 points, OU sucks." I'm hoping it's a 20-point game by halftime so we can use our bench a lot in the second half. I'm not taking this for granted, but I think we are more than capable of putting the Rockets away very early.

What's weak is that you can't see the difference between what was posted back then and the above quote.

Not to mention we've banned many user accounts through the years.

Really?  What was posted back then?  You must know since you're able to do a comparison?

Ryan, others may have been banned.   So, I'm wrong on that.  But none were banned for reasonable commentary as was the case here.  Were those others warned or given a chance to respond?

Obviously anything can happen, but I don't view this as a particularly dangerous or worrisome matchup.  Toledo is horrible.  I think they said on the STO tournament preview show that the Rockets are down to five scholarship players and have lost 46 straight road games (winless since March 2008).  It would take a let-down of monumental proportions to lose this one.    CMU in 2002 at least had enough talent that they'd go on to win the league the next season.  Toledo is years away.

The only question in my mind is whether we come out ready to take care of business, in which case this should be over by halftime, or if we let Toledo hang around, in which case our starters will not get as much rest as we'd like.  A loss in this game would probably be the most shocking in our recent history.

Since we lost at Miami, I don't view Toledo as a trap game.  I'm sure the coaching staff has had the players' attention over the past few days.

Is it true that there is no internet video or audio for this game?

It appears your roommate wasn't trying to lure you into a false sense of security.

I haven't seen a beatdown like this since I participated in the The Post sports staff vs. OU men's team game after the season in 2002.

We were never going to lose this one, but is it cause for concern that 15-47 apart from Ivo and 9-36 apart from Ivo and DeVaughn?  3-19 3-pointers.

3rd straight no show from Nick Kellogg.  He must hit shots if we stand a chance of beating anyone in Cleveland.  He limped off in the late 2nd half tonight.

Yes he did, on a free throw in the second half.

This board always overreacts to stuff ie some people in this thread calling toledo a trap game. We will be just fine we took easy shots that we just couldn't get to fall. I'd much rather have a bad shooting night against one of the truly horrid teams in DI and get it out of our system rather than have it happen later.

That being said my biggest concern is that the freshman can't run any offense and pass to DJ or tommy as soon as they touch the ball. They don't even look to create, shoot, or even to drive and kick.

People not named Tommy 0 for 12 from 3...Bad.  We can't have that in Cleveland.  Some might see it as a cause for concern, I see it as the law of averages being on our side going into the Ball State game.  No doubt Nick's shot has been off a little towards the 2nd half of MAC play, but he continued to be solid all around.  I think the shot will come at the right time.

Amazing to think this team has evolved from a frustrating perimeter team to more of a "look inside first" team.  I definitely think our attack in Cleveland should be Devo/Ivo first.  My expert analysis and honest belief is THAT $#!^'s WILL BE THEIR ALL DAY LONG...But if it isn't, lets kick it back out for the open 3 to our excellent long range shooters.

CAN'T WAIT!

Now, is that based on intuition or statistics?

Having three consecutive games where the team as a whole has been below its normal 3 pt. % is some cause for concern, but I tend to agree with the poster who said it probably means that the law of averages states Ohio is due to shoot better from 3 in Cleveland.

I doubt that all of a sudden Ohio has lost it's three point mojo.  These things tend to go in streaks.  I think we have a good chance to get back to normal while in Cleveland.

Agree that it would help immensely if Nick is able to play despite the ankle, and if he gets back on track with the 3s.

BTW, congrats to the team for "surviving and advancing" last night.  The defense was exceptional during the 31-6 run.  After that, we kind of lost our edge a little and Toledo kept fighting.

Gotta give Toledo some props for their effort.  They absolutely didn't quit after getting down 31-6.  If this is any indication, the future will be brighter with the new talent coming in next year to Toledo.
