Looks like Arizona assistant Archie Miller gets the job.
This is kind of like Groce getting the Ohio job. With all due respect to Dayton and their large fanbase they are no more attractive than the top jobs across the non Big 6 conferences. Ohio has a better situation in the MAC really because of the conference tourney in Cleveland and the league wide open ot build a powerhouse. Dayton must go through Xavier and Temple every year at the top of the A10 and those 2 are more attractive, better programs.
Add Richmond and the occasional Charlotte/Duquesne/St. Louis to that list. But, Dayton is still probably in the Top 3 of A-10 programs in the past 5-10 years. And with the way that league has been getting NCAA bids, I'm pretty confident to say Dayton is in a lot better situation than Ohio. Brian Gregory massively underachived the past three years when it looked like his talent was prime to takeover the A-10 from Xavier. Winning the NIT was nice, but their goals were set much higher than that. I think my favorite thing about watching the Xavier/Dayton games the past few years has been watching the meltdown of both the team and the fans when they still can't figure out how to beat Xavier inside the Cincinnati city limits. The Xavier student chants of "N-I-T" never got old.
