The guy I believe more than ever needs more time is B-Rod. I don't know why he isn't playing more. His effort has been great and he's one of the few guys who looks comfortable on the court. He's driving to the basket, he's active and he's shot the 3 (while small sample size) pretty well. His attitude seems good and I just don't know why he isn't playing more. I like our guard trio of Miles, Baker and Hunter but B-Rod should be backing that group up before Sheldon or James.
I'm not sure Clayton is worth the starting spot, but he's the only other option at the 4 unfortunately. Hopefully he gets more aggressive as the season goes on, because right now - outside of Wilson, there might as well not be anyone down low. Just a tremendous lack of big man depth on this team.
Clayton is another one who I would absolutely give minutes to now in hopes of developing him. Hopefully by MAC play he is more aggressive on offense and the boards. He is still very young...

I'm not as hard on Wiz on the offensive end. Each game he has had at least one creative offensive move in the post. There's a little something there. Defensively and on the glass, we need a lot more. He's at 0.075 rebounds per minute. Dwight is six times the rebounder thus far (.45 per minute). Unreal from a 6'11 wide body.

It will be interesting to see whose minutes decrease when IJ comes back. Hadaway is essentially backing up Clayton despite being more of a tall wing. IJ is a tweener for a five, even compared to Dwight. Will Wiz see more bench? Aidan? Has IJ truly earned a rotation spot?

We should not expect AJB to be this team's savior. He is still only a freshman.

I definitely see Sheldon's minutes shrinking as the season progresses. I just don't see an impact on the game with his minutes and Brown, Hunter, and Baker are generating more as lead guards.

Elmore James has shown some good stuff. I don't see a deer in headlights there.
Agreed on Wiznitzer. He is certainly raw, but he's shown some flashes of offensive vision and made some plays only a guy with his height can make. I think he's the classic undeveloped 6-11 big you give minutes to hoping to develop him further. I think 15ish minutes a game spelling DW3 and Clayton is the perfect role for him right now.
Wow, you are truly living up to your screenname. If we are giving 15ish minutes to this guy then we are in serious trouble.

His time to develop was last year with Lville. Can't waste a scholarship on a portal guy to develop.

There is nothing there besides height.
LVille didn't really give him an opportunity to develop - 100 minutes in 17 games played in two years - barely played last year as well. Like I've said, as hard as it is, I'm trying to remain optimistic he will develop as an all around player.
I know I'm being harsh but he spent 2 years in a historic, P5, basketball school. I'm not sure Ohio is a better place to develop than Louisville was, I tend to think probably not. The talent he went up against in practice everyday is just not the same.

You would think that coming to the MAC would slow things down for him, but he looks like the slowest guy on the floor.

If he were a true freshman, my opinion would be completely different. He's a portal transfer and we need to hit on these transfers, not take a chance on developing into something.

If we don't, we will fall behind other schools who are bringing in transfers they know are ready on day 1.

Can anybody remember examples of big men who didn't see the floor at all at the P5 level coming and being an immediate impact player in the MAC?

I mean, I guess technically Jason Carter? Though that's a weird edge case. Kenny Kaminsky, though more of a tall shooter than a true big.

But with Marin Bota, 5 mpg at Auburn translated to 5mpg at OU. If you're 7'0 and can't find the floor in a college basketball game it almost certainly means there are very serious issues with your game, regardless of the level of competition.

There are guys I'd call serviceable (Pat Forsythe, Dashonte Riley) but true impact? I don't know.

I know it's early but this is a BAD loss. Detroit Mercy has won 2 games in the past 2 years. This is not a team we should ever lose to, regardless of the circumstances
Where are you getting that Detroit has only won two games in the past two years?
Google says they went 1-27 in 2021-22 and 1-13 in 2020-21
